Speed Training
I'm looking to get a bit faster for track season in a month or so... is there any guaranteed way for me to do this? I haven't exercised in a while, and I'm not the strongest guy alive... I was thinking I'd have to do some more endurance stuff anyways.

Re: Speed Training
just practice the event(s) you are going to do...
except add on like 20 or 25 extra meters and still try to get your time down to what you would want it. come race day you'll have a nice burst at the end of the race.
of course weight training and a good diet helps too.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment

Re: Speed Training
My dad's a personal trainer at Lifetime and he's helped me a lot with increasing my speed and quickness. Do wind sprints, cone drills and plyometrics. Also get a good thirty pound weight vest and do the same drills. After you take it off you'll feel like you can move lightning quick.
Do weight training on your legs, but on your reps instead of doing a full, slow rep, push/pull into the rep slightly then pump up and down quickly for 20-30 seconds. Go further into the rep and do it again. Repeat this till you go all the way through the machines range of motion. This will help build the strength and responsivness of your fast twitch muscle.
Also if you can find a small trampoline (like four by four feet, not the big kind you play on) bounce on it. It will help your muscles loosen and recover from training. Doing sprints on it will also help increase your fast twitch muscle responsivness, or so my dad says. He did this whole series of speed training on trampolines with some Olympic trainer back when he was in college, I'll look further into it if you want me to.Comment

Re: Speed Training
Here you go. Lot of great videos to help you work all key muscle groups. I've been going through the videos awhile now to get back into football shape.

Re: Speed Training
Maybe try resistance running. We've been doing that during our football workouts using bands, it seems to be helping us.
But in reality, you probably don't have perfect form, you could just work on getting better form and cut time of your runs.WUSTLComment
