    Interview with TCrouch (Moderator/Racing Guru)

BDoughty: So how long have you been with Operation Sports?

I got brought on around August of 2000, I think. I don't remember the exact date. Craig Tompkins, the previous-previous owner of OS, was looking for a new reviewer, and I got hired. Nothing exciting.

BDoughty: Why the obsession with the racing genre?

Tcrouch: Oh man, where to start? My family was racing dirt dragsters and dune buggies before I was born. My grandpa got my dad into it, my dad got my brother and I into it. We started racing motocross as kids, then moved onto flat track Honda Odysseys, and eventually 360 Sprint Cars. After growing up with it, you tend to enjoy it more than somebody who's never been exposed to it. I moved to Indianapolis in 2001 to work for an Indycar team, but that fell through. I'm now back in California racing anything on a PC or XBox. I don't race anything (in real life) other than little 1/10 scale nitro trucks nowadays. Video game racing is cheaper, and less painful.

BDoughty: Can you ever convince me to watch Nascar?

Tcrouch: Man, I doubt it. You're like a meaner version of Jeff Foxworthy. If I could get your condescending butt to sit through a race with me and actually learn something about it, you might find out it's deeper than you could possibly imagine. However, that day is probably coming along right after CrushB5 becomes a Sega Fanboy.

BDoughty: Tell us about the Crouch family?

Tcrouch: I have a beautiful wife, Jill, and 3 children. Katarina Mashelle, 9, Darren William, 3, and Aurora Danielle, 6 months. My wife is the greatest person ever. She puts up with my crap, which automatically nominates her for a Nobel Peace Prize or something. She up and quit her job of 12 years (as a bank manager) and moved to Indianapolis on a whim...just because it's what I wanted to do. That, and she takes a list of upcoming games with her anytime she goes to the mall, and if she sees any of them, she brings them home for me . However, nothing beats the fact that she let me build that monstrosity of a computer racing setup. The ultimate internet geek racer's wet dream We still enjoy doing the typical "family" stuff....the beach (since we're on the California coast), taking the kids minigolfing, or wherever they can have fun at. Sort of a geek version of a normal household, I suppose.

BDoughty: Other then sports gaming and racing, do you have an hobbies?

Tcrouch: I used to be into weight lifting and Aam Ka Jutsu (still hold a brown belt in that), but I dislocated both shoulders in a grappling class a couple of years ago and haven't done much of either one since. That'll teach me to call out an instructor as my "parter". That wouldn't have been too bad in itself, except I tapped him out in 30 seconds the first round...so he pretty much screwed me up for life in the second . I still race the Nitro trucks on weekends, and I like to sketch, draw, or paint "skins" for racing games...basically just paintjobs for people.

Thank you for the time Terry and unlike the bossman has given us some pics.

I see how you kick so much *** in Nascar racing games. Look at that setup! That is sick!

hehe...I know. Funny too. Those parents are the first ones to whip out the wallet pictures on you. Of course, I thought all 3 were cute, so I think every single parent is biased just a bit!
