It's all over the news here in Buffalo, guys, and it's just beginning to get national coverage. Horrible, horrible turn of events...

These pictures are some of the first online photographs of the incident:




It is rumored that 49 people are presumed dead in this accident according to MSNBC including all 44 passengers and 4 crewmembers on board. There was one person in the house at the time according to WGRZ-TV in Buffalo. All of this is unconfirmed.

I'm seeing these images on TV right now...unbelievable. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Clarence right now and to the families of everyone on board and everyone who was in the general vicinity. It's truly shocking.

EDIT: It was apparently a Continental Airlines cargo plane heading from Newark to Buffalo.

The winds were crazy today. Taking off was rough but its not the worse I've been in. I was in Philly and I've landed there a few times where I actually got air in between my seat and me during the approach.

My condolences to everyone who died in the accident. I honestly think one of the unluckiest ways to die has to be as a ground casualty in a plane crash. Of all the planes flying over all the houses in the US, the odds of one hitting your house are so slim. And in a case like this its almost a miracle that the plane only struck one house.

Well this is a sad sub-story:

According to the Buffalo News newspaper, one of the crash victims, Beverly Eckert, was the widow of 9/11 terror attack victim Sean Rooney, a Buffalo native. Eckert was traveling to Buffalo for a weekend celebration of what would have been her husband's 58th birthday.

She also had planned to take part in presentation of a scholarship award at Canisius High School that she established in honor of her late husband, the newspaper reported.
