Re: Moving to California
You think Phil Jackson coined that phrase about Sacramento?!
I went to Junior HS and HS there. I've been to countless other major cities across the country and Sacramento is near the bottom of the list. Especially given the fact that it's a capital city.
I'll take my own opinion over Phil's.Comment

Having spent the majority of my life in Southern California I will admit Sacramento took some getting used to. But when you have cities like Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto, Stockton, Vacaville, Farefield and the like in this state, Sacramento is very far from a "cow town".
Heck I don't remember ever seeing a single cow in my 18 years up here.Comment

Re: Moving to California
Just because you have multiple cow towns in central California doesn't automatically disqualify Sacramento from being one.
Did you happen to see where the old Arco Arena was or even the new one when it was built? Did you see the cows grazing along side it?
Ever been near Elk Grove? Hell, half of Sacramento's suburban communities along the I-80 were built on old farms.Comment

Like I said, having grown up in San Diego and Orange County getting used to Sacramento life took a little time, but that was 20 years ago. However today it's really not all that different than the same places I grew up minus the beaches and better looking women.Comment

Re: Moving to California
Atlanta, Birmingham, Mobile, New Orleans. Nashville, too, but I don't really know if we want to consider that the south right now.
Except I don't really know how much cheaper Atlanta would really be. I hear Macon, GA is pretty nice.Last edited by auburntigersfan; 02-22-2009, 11:56 AM.WUSTLComment

Re: Moving to California
I believe Charlotte is the second or third largest financial city in the country (granted, at this time, that's not really a good thing).

Re: Moving to California
Than California? Significantly cheaper. A $300-400K house in the Atlanta area is a $700-800k here in the DMV, and I understand that California is even more expensive. If you're looking at comparable domiciles, Atlanta's probably about a third of the price for smaller things, and for mansions and luxury apartments, it's probably 5-10 times cheaper.WUSTLComment
