Had my 3rd child today. A baby boy that weighs 9lbs 4oz - 20.5" long. We werent expecting him to be so big (actually we werent expecting baby to be a boy). The nurses were all saying he was my linebacker, that felt good.

In response to the original post, I have something I'd like to share. I call it "One Move That Will Make You A Better Husband To A Pregnant Wife"....

1 - Do what she wants, whether it makes sense or not. It could be the most irrational and nonsensical thing she thinks of that she wants you to do for her, but do it anyway. She's crazy. You know it. Her friends know it. But she doesn't realize it. Doing this will make your life SO much easier.

      Enjoy!

PS - Everything's going great with my wife's pregnancy. She's due April 27th. We had the baby shower last weekend. Her room is pretty much ready to go, save for a few more furniture pieces we're waiting on being delivered. It won't be much longer now...

Yep, but she does have your genes in her during that time. So maybe that is where the crazy comes from.

It would have been nice to be better prepared. When we had our first, we had no idea what to do. The Hospital gives you no hand book when you leave they just give you a baby and say good luck. Changing diapers is something you will get better at, but getting up in the middle night sucks big time!!!

My wife and I had our first child, a boy, at the end of August this past year. We were pretty lucky that by October he was sleeping through the night already. He did go through a bout of not actually going to sleep until about 2 or 3 am for about two weeks before that. That was hell and we thought it would never end.

I'm currently potty training my 2 year old... definitely one of the toughest tasks I've ever had to endure lol he gets it, but sometimes he gets lazy and just lets loose in his lil mini underwear

but he's doing good for the most part

next up.. read + writing (hoping this will make him lose this small lisp he has.. not sure if it's a baby thing or not. we'll see)

How much crap does a baby actually need? We went to Babies 'R' Us and Target today to pick up some items off our registry that we didn't get (using giftcards) and her room is FULL of stuff! Bottles, diapers, bottle cleaning kits, blankets, onesies, burping clothes, toys, swings, just a ton of crap!

Was I this high maintenance when I was a baby? I don't remember my brother being so accessorized when he was a baby either.

Oh, BTW, my honesty and willingness to help out any future dads out there with my earlier post in this thread got me a nice smack on the shoulder and a DEADLY dirty look from the wife. She happened to see the post just a few minutes ago when I was reading this thread. Hope you all appreciate it.

Honestly, your baby probably won't even use half the stuff she gets. My kid had a MILLION gadgets after the baby shower and... well maybe 5-6 things were in use consistently... other stuff are still brand new and I'm going to give it to my sister for her upcoming child this summer.

Heck babies don't even care.. especially newborns... bottle + new diaper + burping rag + blanket = your set for the first month or 2.

Re: OFFICIAL OS Baby's DADDY Thread

Being a dad is one of the most awesome responsibilities ever. I have 2 kids and another due in June. My first child we didn't find out the sex until she was born with my second we found out. We are keeping this one a suprise until the baby is born. Each stage my kids went through I thought man this can't get any better but it does. Teaching them to fish, throw and catch, ride a bike, etc is all thrilling in itself. My daughter is old enough to really get out there and play catch with and the coach in me tries to correct every mistake, but I found that if I just go out there and make sure it is fun the experience is 100 times better. My son who is 5 is just getting there and it is fun watching the experience of catching a ball or hitting a ball. The best times are the times they crawl in your lap or wake you up in the middle of the night to come and sleep with them.

Yes there are days where they can drive you up the wall or make you really mad. There are time where you have to discipline them and there are times where you have to understand that mistakes happen. No matter what they are a gift and a blessing and they are what life is about.
I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

So true. My 4 month old girl has 50 million toys and gadgets that people have given her but all she cares about is having a full belly, good sleep, clean nappy and as much time with her mother and me as she can get.

Just had to say thanks to LM for starting this thread, that first post has some great advice and it's always to good to read stuff like that to inspire us to be better dads (and better people in general).
