What are you giving up for Lent?

I contemplated giving up video games or alcohol, but came to my senses and decided to give up red meat and try to eat healthier in general.

What did you give up (or are trying to do more of)?

Seeing as I'm already a vegetarian and I am agnostic, I'm with MassNole on this one.

PS - Fish is still meat, regardless of how your parents raised you.

It's not for lent but for the next couple months I'm going to try and phase out all meat except for grilled chicken. This is just because I want to lose 20 lbs and right now I eat way too many burgers.

Good for you, bro. Red meat is just about the worst thing you could possibly put into your body besides drugs. Pork is beyond terrible for you too because of the very high levels of aluminum in it. I've been a veggiehead for a little over a year now and I feel much better for it. Every day I feel more energized than the last. You will feel better and lose weight within a couple of months. Good luck!

I wish more people would think this way. How it's still under the guidelines of vegetarian is beyond me. Oh well.

I think I'll do more vegetarian eating myself. I've been phasing out the cow so far. I think after a couple of months of chicken, I'll phase that out until I'm a cold cut vegeman.

Oh and nothing for Lent. I figure that I make lifestyle changes that will stand permanent instead of doing it for an occasion.

I know, man. I get upset when I'm at a restaurant and after the server tells me about their specials I'll say, "I'm a vegetarian." and they'll respond with, "Oh, you can substitute the chicken with fish!"

I gave up on Video Games. I have terrible study habits and decent social skills (they are getting better) so I'm giving up my weekends pretty much, time to finally clean my room and do homework.

Thats not necessarily being dense, just un-informed or mis-informed.

Can one give up lent for lent? If so, I'll do that.

I got detention for saying that in 7th grade when I went to Catholic school.

I tried to get out of it by saying I gave up detention for Lent as well, but that didn't really amuse them that much.

I used to be a vegetarian up until a couple years ago and I started eating fast food burgers just 14 months ago, hence the 20lb weight gain. I used to get into the fish being meat or not meat debate with my friends all the time back then. The main argument they would use was that fish was not meat because it had no feelings, how in the world would they know if a fish had feelings or not. I classify all food as meat or vegetarian, and if it's an animal it's meat.
