06 still shouldn't be doing like that but it's more understandable than an 08. Even more so you had some engine problems. I would try another joint though if I were you.

Sometimes places put the oil plug back on wrong and it leaks out... that's about the only reason I could think of that explains your car losing that much oil -- did you notice any leaks underneath the car or anything? Unless it's burning it off, the oil should just get dirty, not disappear... kinda strange for a newer car. But yeah, add oil to it and consider going somewhere else for your changes.

Just ask them and make sure that they check that stuff when the change is completed. It's generally Pep Boys and places like that who screw that stuff up because they're doing so many per day (simple odds say they'll screw some up), but dealerships could do it too. Just confusing why you lost enough oil to make the indicator light go on... something had to have happened at the last change.

Otherwise someone is stealing your oil haha... I heard about gas siphoning picking up when prices were high, but never heard of someone stealing oil. These guys are the #1 suspects:

Could be nothing, like a bad sensor or something. Get yourself a Chilton book and see if that can help you.

Take it to Autozone and have them tell you what code your CEL is throwing. They read your CEL for free. From there you can either search the web or get a Clifton's book for your car to see what it means and then go from there.
