We stayed at the Hyatt which was awesome, but I will admit it was expensive. When we go back we plan on staying somewhere a little less expensive. Our hotel bill alone after 5 nights came out to about 5k. But we did massages and all types of other crap and charged it to the room. Regardless, still expensive.

The restaurants were also expensive (around $120 a couple), but definetly worth every penny. I would recommend El Gaucho's, Texas De Brazil, Yemanja, and Gianni's. We also went to the Flying Fishbone which is on the beach and you watch the sun go down while you eat, but we hated it. The tables were too close together and it was really far from the hotel.

    Some random notes.

The customs service in Aruba sucks. We waited on line in the Aruba airport coming and going for at least an hour each.

Every place you eat will ask you if you want sparkling water. If you say yes (which my wife did for every meal) they will leave to bottle on the table and charge you about $15 for the bottle at the end of the meal. We didn't notice this until the last day.

Try the local beer (Balashi). I loved it.

If you want to bring some Cuban cigars back, just take them out of the metal tube and peel the label off. Everyone does it that way and they don't care at all.

You have to wear some strong *** sunscreen. Its windy there so the sun never feels as strong as it really is. I got burnt to a crisp the second day I was there and got the chills really bad that night. The second to last day we were there we spent the whole day jetskiing and tubing and the next day I had a horrible flu, and that was with sunscreen on.

Watch out for iguanas. They're everywhere. Scared the hell out of me.

    Have fun
Next time you go stay at the Aruban Grand Hotel, it is like 4 or 5 hotels down from the Hyatt. I stayed at the Aruban Grand the last time I went to Aruba for $99 a night. They will bargain with you if you just show up. I know it is scary to just show up in Aruba with no hotel but this is what I did the last time I went and like I said I got a room for $99 a night. Also you can get a room at the Holiday Inn for $159 a night and it is all inclusive, again you will have to bargain with them. Most of these "lesser" hotels always have empty rooms and will give you a room for a very good price.
Oh and I agree I absolutely love Balishi beer, matter of fact I have a 6 pack of it in my fridge right now!

Where were you able to get Balashi in the states?

A girl that I met there sends it to me from time to time.
Also I believe you can bring back a 6 pack with you when you come home.

I moved to Aruba for my job, they where doing some work on the Oil Refinery down there and my company supplied all the tools. I basically set in a trailer for 13 months and took tool orders. I signed on to work there for 5 years but the job got cancelled early.
Just to let you know you cant just move to Aruba and find a job. You have to have a job there that an Aruban can not do. Also you can not stay longer then one month at a time in Aruba.
With it being such a small island they dont want alot of people moving there.

Yes I went to Baby Beach many times, it is beautiful.
Also you are right the "back side" of the island is cool as hell, the cliffs and rocks are really something to see. What about the prison you pass on the way to the other side?

              Cable TV
              Internet
              Cell Phone Access
              Food

I lived in a VERY nice house on the beach for the majority of the time I was there. It belonged to a guy who was 1/2 Aruban and 1/2 French. He rented it to me for $750 a month to my company which was alot cheeper then the $150 a day they where paying for me to live in a hotel. The reason he rented it so cheap to me was because he was having a hard time renting it, 99% of the locals could not afford to rent it.

I had Direct TV and I had Hughes internet.
And yes my work cell phone worked there, it is a "world" phone.
I did eat out alot, but at the local resturants on the locals side of the island. I also went to the grocery store once a week and ate dinner at home alot. My house was a really nice modern house and did have a modern kitchen. I also had a wet bar/grill by my outdoor pool!

Aruban women are hispanic for the most part, although there alot of Columbian women in Aruba and most of them are really dark.
Also I dont think most people realize that prostitution is legal on the locals side of the island. But it is not allowed on the tourist side of the island. It was really weird the prositutes are chased off of the tourist side. Most tourist dont go to the locals side of the island as it is almost 3rd world over there. Also pot is pretty much legal on the locals side and is really easy to get ahold of and is not hidden at all on their side.

Yes the women like American men because they think we are all super rich and we are compared to them. My boss is 55 years old and really over weight and had a 19 year old hot as hell Aruban girl living with him when he was there. She did all his cooking and cleaning and everything else he wanted and he gave her about 20 bucks a day. I know alot of this seems far fetched or unreal but I swear to you it is not. It really opened up my eyes living there, just seeing how other parts of the world lived.
Also one other thing there is next to no crime in Aruba.

Any pics of those females there? Damn 20 a day? I am opposed to giving these women $ but for someone that is into all of that, that isn't much to give. Could she cook though is the question LOL?

                      Nude beaches anywhere?

So all they do is smoke weed?

3rd WOrld huh? Don't want to be caught on the wrong side of the island right?

Anybody ever try to rob you?

See it wasnt about the $20 bucks a day for her it was about being taken care of and having a roof over her head.

                            Nude beaches anywhere?
No not really but plenty of nudity on the locals side of the island.

So all they do is smoke weed?
Yes alot of weed, I heard there is alot of cocaine too but I really never saw it. You have to remember you are 20 miles from Columbia.

3rd WOrld huh? Don't want to be caught on the wrong side of the island right?
Yes. lots of shack houses and poor people. I only ever really felt threatened once while I lived there. I was on the locals side of the island at about 3am dropping off a girl at her house and some fellows approached my truck and wanted to "borrow" some money. I just drove off and went home.

Anybody ever try to rob you?
No never, and it really makes no sense!
What I mean is they are dirt poor as most of them dont work, there really isnt anywhere for them to work. Most of them live off of the tourist tax, they get a check every month that comes from the tourist tax.
But like I said it makes no sense they have no money but they dont turn to crime and try to rob the rich tourist.

                            Tell some random stories man[/QUOTE]
Lots of random stories I have to leave work here in about 5 minutes.
The best story was hanging out with Fred Savage and his younger brother for about 3 or 4 days. And getting interviewed by Geroldo Riveria during the whole ordeal when the American girl went missing in Aruba. I will post some more tomorrow if you are interested.

I thought there would be alot of local guys trying to talk and harrass my girl when we were there, but it was the complete opposite. Everyone there was very respectful.

The only place that was a little shady was the Holiday Inn casino. I was playing poker and she was by herself playing slots and she said a group of guys were bothering her a little, but that was pretty much about it.

I loved it there. Going back before the end of the year.
