You have to admire the creativity...

So, I was driving last night and I saw an odd billboard alongside the expressway. It looked like this:

Sort of a goofy looking guy and it just seemed really odd to me. I had to do a double-take. Honestly, my thought was that it was some sort of viral marketing promotion, so when I got home, I checked out the website. Turns out it really is a guy trying to land a job using a billboard. I did a little digging and came up with a few articles about his creative idea.

Odd, but I guess in this economy, you have to do whatever it takes. Unfortunately, the website is a POS.

Interesting, and also telling how bad it is out there..

I heard a story here in NY of a guy wearing a cardboard billboard around the city looking for work.. and ended up getting a job with some company.

That guy is smarter than this idiot. $20 vs $ thousands. Unless he sales billboards and already had one, he wasted a lot of money. I guess he is used to make a lot though, so he must think he needs to spend a lot to find another high paying job.

My first thought. Thought it might have been some kind of marketing for a new movie.

Some lady did this around Dallas a few months ago. Apparently she had offers rolling in.

I took a look at his resume. Don't you guys write your address and age/birthdate?

Nope, as far as I know it is left off so the potential for discrimination is not present.

Well, it's different here, as people usually write these details. On the other hand, while looking for a job in my field (advertising/graphics) I always find some ads that don't mention the name of the employer and sometimes even have a fictional email address, I mean it's not fictional, but they don't want you to know who they are - so they create an account that looks like this: jobs100@hotmail... for example ...you got the idea. And even ads that DO include the company name are mostly brief and lack many details. It's probably different on government job, but in my field it's very common. That's why I sometimes hessitate if to send my resume or not...you know.

Name, address, or email is usually there somewhere so they can contact you, but not your birthday. For online, I definitely wouldn't put it there though as anyone could pull that up.
