Funny this is on the subpoena it has an address, completely different town as me nothing is remotely the same. So I guess the guy who lived there moved and they sent it to the next closest person with that same name.

Anyone ever been subpeonaed?
I was just subpoenaed. Apparently I worked at Big Lots(I have never stepped foot in a BL) and saw something happen. Some lady is sueing them and I have been called as a witness. I get to spend my Friday now at the court house the next town over.

Re: Anyone ever been subpeonaed?
I have 3 of them on my desk right now. And as the poster above said there should be a # for the attorney. Just give them a call and let them know of the mistake...so they get it to the correct person and not waste everyone's time.
And it's Subpoena!

Re: Anyone ever been subpeonaed?
Been served a few times, even once when I was young and stupid for somebody else just like you.
Trust me.
You do not want to show up without alerting somebody....ANYBODY....that you are not who they are looking for.
I had figured, "Hey, a day off work and home early if I'm lucky."
Not quite what happened. Instead I was ripped a new one by the defense attorney in a crowded hallway. Then ripped a second one by the judge as he had to reset the court date. He threatened me with plethoria of charges that to this day I still think half were made up.
As the great thinker Road Dog once said..."Your *** better call somebody"Comment

Re: Anyone ever been subpeonaed?
Well the paper says I would have been giving a video deposition. I called the number on the people who called for the subpoena to be served, informed them I have never worked or even stepped foot in a Big Lots, but they still said I had to come anyways.
They sent me a check for $11 I guess for gas. So hopefully they let me keep that for my trouble of driving to ANOTHER town for nothing.Comment

Re: Anyone ever been subpeonaed?
The company that serves the subpoena doesn't care, they only get paid to serve it. If it doesn't mention anything else about the case, lawyer, etc, call the clerk of courts and they should be able to get you in touch with the right person. As deaduck said, not only is your time being wasted, but the lawyers, judge, and client's money.
Also, if you go, you might want to bring proof that you are who you say you are and not this other person.Comment
