No matter what will help you to quit - it's all up to you. Nothing/no one can help you if you don't help yourself. And when you some day manage to quit, don't do the mistake of "No, I don't smoke, just 2-3 a day, it's not really smoking". Hope you can make it. Good luck!

My sister quit smoking after reading a book from, I think, Allen Carr. I can't remember what it was called but all she did was read it from start to finish and she stopped. My brothers mate also quit after reading it. Maybe you could give it a go and see what happens. Good luck.

How can I?

Go with the patch...and tell EVERYONE you're quitting. The more people that know, the more people will be disappointed if you fail. But the patch worked for me...that and the motivation that I was using the money I was saving from buying smokes to buy a brand new Xbox 360. I'll be 4 years smoke free coming up in May.

I was in NY like 4 years ago. I know cigarettes cost a lot in USA. Consider that. Maybe this is because of taxes, but when I was there it was just too much.

Here in Turkey, a pack of marlboro costs less than 3 dollars.

That would be a good move. The best way to quit is cold turkey. That is how I quit dipping snuff, and I've been off the garbage for over two years now. Start working out, running, and drinking large quanities of water. You can do it!

Damn good job TJ. 4 Years is a long time for a smoker. Once you get that far along though you are good to go.

I just quit last 2 Fridays ago. I quit cold turkey. It is not hard during the work day. I am always busy. But weekends when we go to the wine loft or out to have a few drinks. It is VERY VERY tough. Something about drinking and smoking goes hand in hand.

Do like TJ said though. Tell EVERYONE. Most good hearted people will go out of their way to make sure you don't slip up.

I read there is a large tax increase now, so you may use that as motivation. I don't smoke and can stand to be around anyone who does though, so I don't have any hints on how to quit.

I'm going to a wake tomorrow for my friend's father who passed away at 54 from lung cancer because he smoked since he was a teenager. Do you really want to pass away that young?
