Does Costco have to increase the cost of their merchandise to make up for the extra costs of paying employees? No, not really. They get a lot of financial gain just from the increased productivity and decreased turnover that these wages provide.
Yeah great examlple. My brother has been with Costco for 12 or so years and has a ton of pride in their company because they treat their employee's so well. Better wages and better benefits create a much more enjoyable and prodcutive employee. They don't make commission there, but if you spoke with my brother, you think they would by the amount he hypes the company.

And regarding the your comment on turnover, again, you are right on. My brother started pushing carts over Christmas break, like I said, about 12 or so years ago. There are a ton of employees still around from those days, almost all of whome have worked their way up to supervisor and management positions. Obviously a ton have also given up their jobs for one reason or another, but I can probably go back to my last job, which I left only 3 and a half years ago and find a much smaller % of tenured employee's who were there when I was.

Trust me.....and I'm not going out on a limb here....no one wants your opinion on whether a thread is interesting or not.

I'm fairly certain that 99.9999999% of my fellow OSers will agree with that statement.

I know your trolling and what not, but actually In N Out Burger pays a very decent wage compared to comperable fast food companies. Back in high school when Mc Donalds's was paying $5.75, In N Out was paying $7.50.

With his logic, he should be posting in every single thread of whether or not it is interesting or boring.

He made 81,000 last year....no college degree, and is only a department manager. I never would have guessed. He's my age (31) and he's been working at Publix since he was 19. Says he loves the company and has over 200k in his retirement fund because of the excellent benefits.
                Well that's just ridiculous.

Where I am from it is amazing how much guys are making in the mining industry. They have cleaners on over 80k per year in the mines and a regular truck driver out there (most of this guys never even came close to finishing high school) can easily earn 150k + per year.

My mother is a teacher and she did some relief teaching in a small mining town for a few weeks and she said the children are terribly behaved and don't care about school work at all. When you consider their illiterate father who never went to highschool is pulling 200k driving a truck you can kind of see why the children think studying untill they are 25 to make less than a third of that doesn't make much sense.

True, but mining does pose a lot of risks. People who work in and around them should be well compensated IMHO. A lot of them end up dying and leaving behind families. But I agree with you about the state of education. It's downright abysmal in many parts of the nation, not just mining country. A lot of these kids simply don't give a damn and you can just see people becoming stupider and more ignorant almost by the day. People care about the wrong things. I'll bet most people could tell you who is winning American Idol or Dancing With The Stars, but ask those same people to name and explain the first ten amendments and you'll probably get nothing but a blank stare.
