Re-enlisting in the Army
Well Since this economy really sucks and it pretty much limiting me to crappy jobs I have decided to Re-Enlist in the Army. The Real Question is: What the hell do I want to do. Part of me wants to get back in BadA** shape and do the infantry thing again but there really are no civillian applications for that. Im Leaning towards CID,Psychological Operations , or Counter Intel.

Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
I have been out a year and would probably just enlist for the standard 4.I have narrowed those three down because they seem like something I would like to do but also have civillian applications. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Solider, the first thing you need to do is rescue that dog in your avatar and shoot the owner/s. Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
Define "a lot of money." I'm a married E-6 in the Air Force, and stationed in Hawaii, so I make a pretty decent salary (enough to pay the bills, and still have some left over for savings), but when I was a single E-4 stationed in Vegas, I was living paycheck to paycheck. My take home pay is about $78K now, but when I first joined 8 years ago, it was closer to $20K.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
Hell I don't even want to tell you what I was pulling in the late 80's. Actually I've forgot but I don't think I was getting near that. But at least while I was in I didn't have to pay for food or rent. As far as I can remember I think they actually "claim" you're making more money than that but they're paying for housing and grub. Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
I'm also thinking of re-enlisting in the Navy. I'm currently active duty and my Contract is up next April. When I got in I said I'm going to do my 4 years and get out, but I'm working on my associates degree right now and there is no way I'll have my Bachelor's in a year. I dont know if I really want to re-enlist though, if I do I'll almost surely get sent back green-side (with the Marine Corps, I'm a corpsman) which means another deployment to Afganistan, but that might be my only choice. I have food, clothing, a steady paycheck and a roof over my head. I wont be promised that If I get out.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
Well you could always get out for a little bit and finish that degree. Good thing about the New GI Bill is that it now offers BAH for where you live so you could pretty much go to school and focus on it.I'm also thinking of re-enlisting in the Navy. Right now My Goal is to lose about 50 Lbs by August, so i can hit the ground running. Should not be too difficult, I did it before, especially now since I am motivated to get back in. Honestly, i should have never of gotten out, I absolutely love the ArmyMy dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
lol... Yeah, I've heard about what the pay used to be like. Let's just say that W may have done some ******** things involving the military, but he took care of us.Hell I don't even want to tell you what I was pulling in the late 80's. The thing that a lot of military guys don't realize is that the pay can suck depending on where you are, but food, housing, and medical are free. You aren't going to find that anywhere else (and yet, I'm still getting out after this enlistment).Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: Re-enlisting in the Army
Yeah that new GI Bill sounds great, what was your rank in the Army when you got out? And if you re-enlist would you come back as the same rank?Well you could always get out for a little bit and finish that degree. Good thing about the New GI Bill is that it now offers BAH for where you live so you could pretty much go to school and focus on it.
