I was just in the All-Pro Football thread arguing about my disappointment with the series and the direction 2ksports is going of late. 2k9 is the first time in history I didn't buy every damn game they've made. But as you can see in the pictures below, I've been a loyal fan since day one.

I have had nothing but dying loyalty to these guys, before they canceled one of the most important sports games to me, College Basketball, with CH 2k8 being the last in the series with so much left to desire, I started feeling betrayed. Then APF came out with so many limitations, lack to play as all teams, and mediocre season mode with no depth. Lame create a player options, I mean you didn't even have more than 8 preset faces, that just sucks.

Then the 2k9 series begins, NHL 2k9 omg where do I start, presentation stepped up, and graphics stepped back along with poor controls. Not only was the game fugly to look at it was even more terrible to play. MLB 2k9 comes out and again, sad graphics engine, terrible pitching mechanics and more player card fluff and lack of fielding controls, a power meter on throwing base to base, come on!

And then my basketball, oh! my basketball! NBA 2k9, it animates nice, presentation was amazing, player models were even more detailed than last year, but not by much! Stadiums are too bright and no real dynamic lighting, constant sliding, and defensive A.I. is a bust! Then you have force fields around the players on fast breaks that make them run like something is bumping against them, players clipping through players. And the one pet peeve that most 2kfans have yet to point out. Is when it comes to the substance of the series! Nothing was truly added to the game, absolutely nothing, they changed the menu system but every damn option was the same. Even the edit player and create a player was identical to 2k8 with a fresh menu.

Am I wrong for being so bluntly honest about no liking them as much anymore!

I think your fine. You have your reasons. Sometimes you just have to walk away and realize it aint worth your time. Fanboys will be fanboys. Hardheaded little boogers.

Wow, that's a lot of games. Can't believe you kept all of them. I'm sure if I kept my games, I'd have a stack like that as well.

This is my view, but I feel like as we get older, we want our games to mature along with us. More detail, more presentation, more graphical prowess, more strategy. We've grown past the "just play the game for fun" stage, and that's OK. We just have to realize that the more hardcore player isn't the core demographic game companies are trying to reach; we only make up a small percentage.

Some companies do a good job of playing to both markets, and some don't. Video games are never going to be perfect because there's so many different views as to what a "perfect game" should look, and play, like.

You just have go with the flow and accept that each game is going to carry with it certain limitations. If you can get past those and still enjoy the game, great. If not, then the only options you have are to play another title by another company (provided there's no exclusive contract involved) or go back to an older version of the game that you enjoyed.

I've started subscribing to the every-other-year stance when it comes to sports games, as I just don't see enough changes in the year-to-year product.

Thanks for moving it KDRE, I don't know what else to say,"but it's sad when fans of a game company are blind with fanboyism and then want to call you the fanboy for not liking them. lol"!

And when I pointed out his ignorance in the APF, he comes back with people buy games every year from companies they don't like. I don't know one idiot on this planet that buys every title from a company they don't like. Nobody has that type of money to waste nor the ignorance of support!

Well I always had big hopes for 2k and always knew they would turn to something great, so I wanted to own everything they made and really loved their games.

But over time that level of love started fading as their games wouldn't advance as much as they use to. And the gameplay started feeling stale and non-improved!

However, I feel your pain in a way BS. I still think overall 2K9 is the best basketball experience on the market today. It it just Live made a strong statement this year and 2K really needs to step it up next year.

Sadly enough NBA 2k9 is the only 2k9 title I own. Because of my passion for basketball itself. I don't think it's the best playing 2k basketball game, but yeah it's the best 2k basketball game, as far as graphics and presentation. But the way it plays took a major step backwards. 2k7 and 2k8 both play better than 2k9.

I personally think Live 09 is more sim than 2k9 and plays more realistically. Most people argue about animations in Live makes it's inferior to 2k9. But I feel like DNA and what animations are there with a few minor tweaks made it better than 2k9.

I think the sliders and rosters released by Tomba for 2k9 made the game tolerable for me, and is the only thing that stopped me from trading it in for a 2nd time. My first copy I took back and traded in for SFIV reserve.

2k10 better come with it, or I might be done with them for good and my collection will stop at 2k10.

I won't buy NHL 2k9 or MLB 2k9 until they are both 10 to 20 bucks. Those games are terrible.

im with you shadows...

i try and "force" myself to play from time to time because the animations look good.. but the gameplay is not dynamic at all and its very boring at times playing against the computer.

I agree. 2k is on the decline. Baseball is horrible, hockey I've heard has gotten worse, and basketball, well, I think NBA2k9's AI is terrible and it makes the game damn near unplayable for me.

See that's just it, I don't want them to stop making games, because of the love I have for their games. Man the efforts and details these guys bring to sports gaming is just amazing. But I feel like their publisher Take-Two is limiting them to resources than can help them over the top. Honestly TT aren't sports people, I've seen them fund GTA and other Rockstar titles in extremely large amounts over any projects that Visual Concepts is doing and they just won't move to that next level.

Someone with big money needs to acquire 2ksports and give them what it will take to bring all their titles back to the top. We all thought when Kush moved away from Hockey and VC took over it was going to be great and you know what, we were wrong. Same with MLB 2k9 we were wrong.

The Show is still King of Baseball, and Live is a season away from being King of Basketball, EA is already King of Hockey they are unmatched in that department. Something is going to happen to 2ksports HQ before they are in 2nd place to everything. And 1 key element is graphics and gameplay engine needs an upgrade. 2nd they need a higher budget for marketing, and 3rd they need to pay the damn NCAA organization and continue the 5 year running College Hoops series. 1 year was torture, but by next season EA will have all the resources to the point where an exclusive license will go many years in that division too.

2k just needs to step up or like I say 2k10 will be my final year and it might not be by choice. Take Two is killing them slowly as we speak.

2k make more then sports games so just keep that in mind. They also make the Grandtheft Auto games and several successful computer franchise games.

It just seems like the past 2 years they have paid way more attention to their PC side of the business then the console side. Which happens from time to time, because EA has done the same thing.

As far as voicing your opinion and having others yell TRAITOR ! That will always happen with die hards who are blinded by their loyalty to a particular franchise.
