I think it is real. They have to go in, usually with the arm and clean out the elephant. They get back up a lot.

I seriously doubt that. There has to be mechanical probes... or at least very very large Q-tips that you can buy!

Actually a lot of the countries can't afford equipment like that, so they just do it themselves. I saw Jeff Corwin do it India. He stuck his arm in there and try to get all that crap and plastic out of there. I guess it ate some plastic bags.
