Out of state Job opportunities..
If a company that is out of state, (more then 300 miles) contacts you about a job, should they foot the bill to have you come in for the interview, or should you pay out of pocket to travel there with no guarantee of getting the job????chuckcross.bandcamp.com

I concur with stewaat. If the out-of-state company is genuinely interested in recruiting you for a job but want to interview you first, they should offer to foot the transportation bill from the get-go.

Re: Out of state Job opportunities..
I have a Interview in New York for a food company named Old London Foods for a Production Supervisor job, They called me, I had a phone interview which went well, now they want a face to face, But I can t afford the trip, and if I did, Im not guarentted to get the job. If They are serious about me they should pay my travel expenses to come there for the interview. Thats 250 -300 dollars I dont have.chuckcross.bandcamp.com

It was a phone interview the first time so I would consider the Face to Face a true first interview, If That makes sense, You know what I mean?chuckcross.bandcamp.com

Re: Out of state Job opportunities..
I'd call them up and tell them your situation (can't afford to travel...plus with the economy the way it is...who has the extra cash laying around?) if they are willing to work with you and help you out then go for it, but if they don't want to pay...then screw them.
Do you know how much more you'd make at this new job?Comment

Remember taxes also, that $10,000 will be gone fast after paying the City and State taxes and not leave you much for actual living costs increase.Comment

It comes down to you deciding how bad you want this job and if you want to take the risk. Because if you don't take the risk, someone else is going to.Comment
