Question for anyone 21-25: You feel like time's running out? (Stolen)

You ever felt like once you start pushing 30 that you're getting "old"? I can't help but to feel like pop culture in today's society has made everything so youth oriented that once you don't have a "2" as the first digit in your age anymore that you've reached the peak of your life. The world has taken on a "Live Young, Die Rich" mentality. Everyone wants to be young. Young Money. Forever 21. Even people saying "30's the new 20"...to me is basically just saying they WANT to be 20 again. Even in sports...growing up I watched Jordan dominate the league in his mid 30's...I watched Hakeem win championships in his 30s...Barkley dominate in his 30s...I could go on and on. Now...if a college senior gets drafted alot of scouts/analysts feel like his window of opportunity for develop is CONSIDERABLY smaller than the guy who left after his freshman year and is 18/19 years old. You turn 30 in the NBA now and you're officially OLD.

Personally, I feel an increased pressure more and more each day to accomplish my goals ALOT quicker than I should be in fear of running out of time...and I'm 23 years old. I feel like if I don't buy that loft or that house...that foreign luxury vehicle...or reach that financial pinnacle before I see 30 that I failed. I always told myself I ain't trying to be living that life when I'm 35 because I won't get to enjoy as much I would if I were 25. My aunt and uncle are both approaching their mid 30s...6 figure income between the two of them...own a nice house...couple kids...BM and a Range paid for, etc...and I look at them like they're old. I've watched 30 creep up on dudes so fast and they aren't doing much of %%$% with their lives. I'm trying to re-train this thought process but it's very difficult.

Don't let what people say bother you so much man. That's just as bad as judging everyone on the BMI scale. Your responsibilities in life increase but if you manage things right you can set yourself up for a nice future.

Everyone is different and take different roads in life. I wouldnt even say at 30 youre sure of exactly what you want in life. You're still growing and still have plenty of time to accomplish things.

This is a microwave age and its not always best to take the fast road to everything.

Main thing man is, people change, and you will too. For the fact that you've even sat down to think about doing something with your life is a huge step and its normal. Everybody wont be ballin like crazy at 30, and you never really know the things people had to deal with behind the scenes to acquire stuff. Sometimes those things come at the expense of sacrifice.

            21 here.

My friends and I like to joke about how we're getting "old," but I dno't really feel that way. Life's definitely changing, though.

I really didn't believe that after 30, you'll start to feel the aches and pains. Well, its true.

I never want to be 18-23 again. It was fun to go through and I'm glad I lived it up and got it out of my system (drinking a ton, chasing girls, doing stupid **** everyday, eating like trash, having no real direction in life) but I'm glad that's over. I'm much happier now at 27; taking care of my body, working full time, exercising a ton, drinking rarely and putting together goals and plans for life. I'm still a long way away but I don't feel like time is running out. I don't think I'll wind up marrying, and if I do it probably won't be until my mid-30's that I'll even start looking for it. That gives me another 8-10 years to continue to advance my personal life.

The aches and pains of aging won't bother me, I've had serious chronic back problems since I was 19 but have learned to live with it and the best ways to limit it.

No matter what age you'll feel that from now on. I'm pushing 40 and feel that way. My parents laugh at me. They're counting the years literally they have left. They're in their 70's. They put on a good front, but I know that it bothers them if they think too much about it.

I'm 30 years old and still feel the same as I was when I was 20. So to me 30s are great.

I'll miss my 20's, but I'll be OK with turning 30. I'm 26 now, so I still have 3+ years before that happens. I think as you age, your goals and your priorities change commensurately and you gain more perspective and wisdom on life in general. I think that will help in the aging process.
