    Serious indigestion/heartburn

I have had some serious indigestion/heartburn the last two days. What can I do to help this?

If you are having problems at night, besides meds, you can put a block of 2x4 under the legs on your headboard. That will raise your head up a little and allow gravity to help a little more.

                What was it you ate?

Get to the root of the cause, and then you'll know not to eat that again or take an antacid prior to eating that meal.

I struggle w/ heartburn all the time, and had an endoscopy done two years ago but nothing really determined a root cause other than certain foods... onions is a BIG contributor, pork, soda, coffee, OJ, foods and beverages w/ high acidic content.

Yep, I had one last year and the results were inconclusive also.
I had to watch what I was eating as well. Other big contributors to acid reflux are chocolate, mint, chili peppers, pepper and tomatoes.

                    No. I need my peppers.

Tuesday I ate some Taco Bueno for lunch and we actually had taco lunch at work yesterday. Maybe it's the greasy meat?

I have acid reflux as well and take Nexium for it. OTC stuff doesn't cut it for me. My biggies are carbonation, really greasy fried food (I thought I was going to die after eating KFC the other day), too much coffee, and of course, spicy food. Too bad I LOVE spicy food and eat it anyways...

A few non-diet suggestions, don't lay down after eating (nothing like the couch after a meal, right?), don't stuff yourself, and losing weight (if applicable). I've put on about 20 pounds in the past few years putting me at 205 (6 ft), and it's probably not a coincidence that this stuff started in the past year or so...

Got it real bad yesterday. I mean real bad. I was in so much pain. I am wondering if it's something other than heartburn.

I am thinking it's spicey foods. I ate jalapeno's both times last week for lunch and got heart burn later that night. I ate a jalapeno with dinner last night and shortly after, I got the pain. Thing is, I have ate salsa that was pretty hot on Saturday and never had a problem.

Don't know what the deal is.

Jalapenos are a killer. They are one spicy thing I have no choice but to avoid. Sorry arena nachos, I still love you... it just wasn't meant to be... no, no, it's me not you...

It might have been the chile seasoning IN the meat.

Take Jalapenos off your list, unless you want to go through that pain time and time again. Oh and as for non-diet suggestions, our family, weather permitting, will take a walk after dinner. It helps speed up digestion, and helps w/ heartburn/acid reflux from slouching on the couch after meals.
