Introvert and that #2 is spot on. Can't stand small talk and it annoys me when people do it. Especially when they ask a question they already know just to make small talk.

I have been told I come off to others as arrogant because I avoid people in social situations.

When I walk into a room, the first thing I do is scan it so I know who is there that I know so that I can attempt to avoid them. Not because I don't like them, but because I hate this coversation:

"Hey, how are you?"
"Good, how are you?
"Not bad, what's new?
"Nothing, whats new with you?
"Not much"
"That's good, welp, see ya later!"

Annoys me to no end.

But as others have said, once I am with good friends, I am as outgoing as it gets.

I am what ever I need to be that day. If I need to talk then I am Extrovert, if I need to shut up I am Introvert. A lot of times I just like to keep to myself, but people seem to find me, so when they do and they start talking to me. I can talk for a long time. That is why I said both for me.

Introvert..No doubt about it. Sometimes I wish I could be more of an extrovert but I guess It's all about my comfort level. Small talk is just not for me. I am suprised at how many people said Introvert.

Funny you should say that, I'm the exact same way. I'm in introvert too and I despise small talk. I often go into public places and see some of my friends and intentionally walk the other way or pretend I don't see them just to avoid the conversation. I always feel like it's going no where and wasting time.

I would say introvert. I only feel comfortable around my peeps so if I go out to a club, I'm in the corner low-key. it was also hard for me to adjust military life in Japan and got booted after 8 months of being there when I was supposed to do a 3 year assignment.

Introverted most of the time, around hotties I am extroverted.

I fall somewhere between both extremes; or, better yet, I can go from one to the other. I have no problem talking with and meeting new people, and sometimes I enjoy doing that. But a lot of the time, I'm a lot more comfortable around close friends or alone.

I get a steady diet of both personality types - which is probably the best way to be

extrovert, but not at the level where i talk about the weather. although when it gets late at night i tend to be an introvert

I'm very surprised by the amount on Innies on this board... but I guess it makes sense given the definition.

I'm an extrovert.

I love talking to anyone about anything. I like finding out about people, even if it's just what they did earlier in the day or where they're off to. I really like to find out what makes a person tick though--desires, passions--so I'll talk about whatever just to learn about them.

Sorry for the bump but I didnt want to start a new thread.

I recently saw a presentation on the power of Introverts and realized how much of an introvert I was. As the person went though the list of key introvert characteristics, I felt understood. It was a pretty revealing experience. Some keys that hit home were

If youve ever heard you parents apologizing for your shyness as a child.
Avoiding small talk, just cant do it.
Hating speaking on the phone, may put off responding to text to avoid long conversation through texts
Needing to be alone to recharge (big one)
Finding great pleasure in seclusion and personal thought (big one)
Being drained by large social gatherings
Finding ways to be alone in social settings (looking at cell phone, camping away form pother people)
Being able to speak like an extrovert when actually have something to say, passionately interested
Finding excuses not to attend parties or large gatherings
Having an extremely exclusive friendbase, hardly looking to for more friends
Being generally uninterested in friends who are well, and having great interest in friends who are troubled

And some of the misconceptions about introverts hit home with me as well. Im not shy or anti social. id just much rather be with close friends for a reason, or be by myself to myself. Anything else seems rather pointless.

My earliest sign of me being an introvert is at my Communion party when I was 7, my extremely extroverted mother (who I blame for my introversion) threw a way too large party for the occasion. i remember having so much attention on me that I was drained an hour in and slept the last 3 hours of the party. All the information and interactions at that party whipped me out fast.

I actually enjoy talking to people, if there is something meaningful to talk about.

But superficial blab at a bar is not my thing and don't particularly enjoy it.

Definitely lean towards introvert myself.

King I'm just like you. I'm so introvert it isn't even funny. The only difference is I have no problem. I can usually say anything through text, stuff I would never have the guts to say in person.
