I don't want to socialize after work. I like quiet evenings.

I have often thought I'd be perfectly happy as a hermit LOL.

I can just lie on the bed and stare into space or fixate on a picture or something and just...think. Drives my wife nuts (who always has to be doing something, like iPad, playing with her phone, reading her Kindle, etc). She always says after about 10 minutes "How can you just lay there like that??" I just smile and say I'm thinking. lol I have never been bored in my life.
Bolded: I have literally told my fiancé that on multiple occasions, that if we ever weren't together, I'd be a recluse/hermit. Not forever, but I'd be pretty content for a while just hanging with myself.

All other things apply too. I'm a big thinker. Sometimes wish I could convey my thoughts into words. Probably why I always say I'm a better writer than speaker. I can text my messages well, wouldn't be able to say them over the phone. Plus, there's some things that can be conveyed through text better... Like dumb jokes that people wouldn't get if spoken.

Definitely with the quiet evenings. Yeah I like going out every now and then (but never to the big bars in the city!), but if I work until 9, that's my night.

Also, extroverts definitely have some kinda issue with introverts. My fiancé's mom didn't like that I was often buried in my headphones. She NEEDED the interaction. Me... Nah, didn't want it and would rather be lost in music land. She'd harp on me for being in the room so often. Then felt uncomfortable if I was on the couch but with my headphones in. Couldn't win with this lady. It's best we don't live with her anymore. Lol

Re: Introvert or Extrovert: Which are you?

Introverts find Texting, Instant Messaging, Emailing, and Online Forums as a sanctuary for communication as response isnt expected immediately. Introverts like to think about (or already have thought about) what they want to say without the strain of an immediate expected response.

I find being put on the spot absolutely dreadful. You remember days in class when the teacher says "Oh nobody want to raise their hand? Looks like its time to start calling on kids AT RANDOM"? These were the worst.

If I have a presentation to give Im fine because ive prepared. If the teacher randomly goes, "come up to the front of the class and tell us how you get ready for school in the morning" id freak out. Not because I dont know the material, but because I wasnt ready mentally to deliver a speech. Does that make sense. ...I need to be mentally prepared for things before going into them or I shut down.

I actually tested out as an INTJ (Introvert). I'd recommend anyone try a MBTI personality test. That opened my eyes to so much. I even had my wife take to see how we compare and how we mesh. It has helped me out in seeing some of her personality flaws as well as some of mine and how to work around those things.

Here's a link to an MBTI-ish test: www.16personalities.com. Not the actual test itself, but close. Some of the information on that site and some follow up research blew my mind and made a lot of sense.

Re: Introvert or Extrovert: Which are you?

Honestly, a lot of these are only "problems" to me until I get to know the person/people a little better. Of course the first day introductions in class were dumb as ****, but after the first week I was cool with speaking during class and in front of class.

I feel like as I get older and just working with the public more, I'm shifting out of that introvert nature. I live alone so I definitely enjoy my alone time and if I've visiting friends/family, I almost always look forward to going back home and just chilling before I need to go to bed or whatever. Even with that said I feel like I need some form of company to charge me up in a different way.

Its just the first introductions and BS small talk that I still find utterly dissatisfying. I barely talk to the girl who cuts my hair. I barely converse with any cashier other than mannerly pleasantries.

You never change, but its just that you are extrovert when need be

You are like most of us dominantly introvert, but that doesn't mean you can't use the other side which we all do at times.

I don't know. I find myself interacting with people a lot differently than even a year or two ago.

Ive gotten pretty good a pretending to be extroverted when necessary. I feel like Im coming off as a dick or as a parody of a person who is excited to speak but apparently its normal for the person receiving it.

Its almost a game for me at this point like Im acting. The other person can just never realize that Im doing it and it makes me laugh on the inside as its happening.

I do too but I am still a huge introvert....but it doesn't really matter, its sort of like if you are right brain or left brain dominant, you are always using one or the other, but most of the time one of them is the main cog.

If you were to see a brain doctor, he could tell you exactly what you are just by looking at the way you walk, facial expressions...things of that nature
it sounds crazy but its true.

It takes alot of energy for me to interact for hours at social events with people I don't normally conversate with... I don't have a huge circle of friends (could count em on one hand probably) and can enjoy my time alone hours at a time and be as happy as pie as opposed to being put in a big time social gathering

I mean I still interact with strangers the same (mostly). Its weird, because I'm typically the first person to talk.

I think I just need another person to reflect off of as weird as it sounds. I don't go out and dance on my own, but with the right person its fun as hell. **** like that.

Weird as I was leaving the house thinking about my job, and how I work from home sometimes, I'm happy to do it, I have no problem working alone which I know some people cannot handle. I still need to interact with people once in awhile but most of my day could be without that and I'd be like cool!

Another thing about introverts is we don't like taking a bunch of risks... comes with thinking stuff out internally before making decisions.
