    Wisdom Teeth

So I last saw a dentist in 2002. He told me I should get my wisdom teeth cut out because they would all grow in and screw everything up.

Well they did. About 6 months ago a tooth cracked because it was pushing against another tooth.

Today I have all kinds of blood gushing from the left top wisdom tooth and my jaw is sore. I am going to have to get this taken care of now.

Does anyone know how much it will cost me to get my wisdom teeth cut out? I heard it was around $2000. I am uninsured.

I have a regular dentist check up this Friday so they can refer me to a surgeon. But I was just curious if anyone knew how much I can expect to pay.

Well I had to pay $180 but I was insured. So honestly I would say around 1,000-2,000.

My uncle was uninsured when his wisdome teeth became too painful to deal with. It only cost him the price of a pair of pliers and a handle of JD.

Kind of unrelated but I'm in my 40's and still haven't had any wisdom teeth problems....is that normal? I remember one dentist saying I should have them removed when I was in my early 20's but I passed.

I think it is. When i had them taken out, my dentist told me that for some people they come out straight, but for most it is better to take them out before they interfere with other teeth. I guess your pretty lucky.

Damn, I feel for you man. My girlfriend just got hers out this year. They were causing headaches, messing up her straight teeth, and were just causing pain. She got them out and hasn't had any troubles since. Plus, it's a nice little experience.

But yeah, they're going to be costly without insurance.

            Good luck, man.

If only there was a way to go back in time and have the dentist warn you of this...oh wait

Do you go to the dentist regularly enough? They'll keep an eye on it. Either way, a lot of people go through life with them and it's just fine. I had to have mine removed, but some friends are cool with theirs.

I remember when I got mine out. I had a massive hole and had to pick food out with a tooth pick. It was chunks the size of a skittle.

I remember the pain killers well

Had all 4 removed at once. It was not to bad, I only paid like 700 something but they were pulled out. Them having to go in and have to cut them out is worse because it requires a surgeon. Mine just required the dentist.

I was lucky and only born with 2. Both on bottom.

My dentist did mine. Only problem was one was still under the gum and it was attached to the bone.

I got mine out last October. We have insurance but they didn't cover all of it, which was 2,000 dollars. The whole process took about 45 minutes. I had all 4 taken out, 2 were impacted and 2 weren't. I was expecting it to be a lot worse but it wasn't that bad. They gave me some vicadin and I just sat around and played FIFA all day for two days.

So yes it is expensive, but I didn't think it was that bad. Just make sure the surgeon knows what they're doing.

Getting those bitches out was the worst three-day experience I can remember. Two years ago they got taken out and it redefined miserable for me.

Of course, it depends on the situation. I know people who ate burgers the next day.
