Anybody here collect comics?

I am a big sports gamer and I also have a comic book collection of about 3500 books. My books right now are Walking Dead, Invincible, Savage Dragon, Fantastic Four.

New book I am reading is Chew and Kick ***. If you are into some crazy crap pick up Kick *** for sure. It will be a movie next year I believe.

I used to. Back when they were around a $1 and issue. Then they started doing variant covers, magazine prints and all that other crap.

I should probably say I read comics, I didn't really collect them.

Yeah I guess the word collect is wrong for my collection. I actually read them. I have 10 long boxes myself.

I used to buy comics a lot as a kid but never really collected them. I then got back into it a couple or so years back and kept all the issues i've bought including some GNs. They're all in a big blue bin I have next to my PC.

I'm more of a fan of looking back and reading classic comics and story arcs so I use other means to do so rather then making myself a penniless beggar by spending all my money on em!

Man at 3.99(!) a pop it gets hard to keep collecting. Most time i wait for an omnibus or such for series not a part of the big 2 companies. I do read a lot of the current ongoings of series i like.

Amazing Spider-man (Mixed but over 300 I would say)
Spectacular Spider-man (Almost complete)
A lot of comics Venom appeared in
And a lot of different collections mainly that include Spider-man, Venom, DeadPool, Civil War or stories like that.

Also trying to get a DeadPool collection going.

$3.99 each is getting a little too much myself that's why I have cut back but, there is some good stuff out right now. I recomend anything by Robert Kirkman. If anyone is into zombies or just a good character based book pick up the Walking Dead.

Image United just came out last week, if you were a fan in the 90's when Image was formed you will love this book. It's all the founders getting back together and drawing their own characters everytime they appear in the book.

I'd read it, but the only comic that i follow that came out of image's founding was/is Witchblade and Wildcats, but the latter has been rebooted so many times its absurd.

Image United just came out last week, if you were a fan in the 90's when Image was formed you will love this book. It's all the founders getting back together and drawing their own characters everytime they appear in the book.

Marc's stuff is really nice. He was working on the Cyberforce characters while I was doing Murderer. He inked those himself, which I didn't see before. The cool thing was how awesome it looked before he erased the pencil lines. I told him, "Man, the way you build up your sketches adds a lot of depth before you clean it up." He said, "I'm going to stop erasing!" lol

That's probably my favorite page he's done, but Rick Basaldua is doing some niiiice inks on the last few pages he did. Marc's Pilot Season covers are my favorite current work of his right now. He and Sonny(colorist) work really well together.

Altimus, if you're a Spidey fan, I highly recommend the Stuart Immonen run on Ultimate Spiderman. Even if you don't like Ultimate comics, or the idea of it, that is some GOOD Spidey storytelling right there. It was a bright spot for Bendis, even when people weren't as into some of the other work he was doing at the time.
