Who Betta? In-N-Out or Five Guys?

Both have the simplest menu's ever.

Both don't venture far from making burgers.

Both don't have any gimmicky names for their burgers or kids meals.

Both have some of the best damn tasting fries.

Both offer a good in restaurant vibe.

Both are damn good.

So which burger joint do you prefer and why?

I think 5 guys is the most overrated burger place ever. I was completely underwhelmed by it.

Burger joint that's mainly in California. Five Guys is pretty much the east coast version of it.

I've never been to either. Never even seen a Five Guys... I think I saw an In-N-Out when I went to California.

I grew up in Cali, a frequent connoisseur of In N' Out for the majority of my high school and college life. 4 years ago I moved to Texas, where last year they opened several 5 Guys in the area.

As the OP said, the two are comparable. Both have simple menu's and even a very similar look (primarily red and white). The food is fresh, never frozen...etc. etc.

With that being said. I prefer the taste of In 'N Out, though I think you get a better value and a bit more of a selection at 5 Guys as far as toppings go. A regular fry will easily feed two and a large will easily feed 4 or 5.

5 Guys has been a decent substitute, but it's not the original (In N Out) for me. When my wife and I head back to Cali, the first stop is almost always In N out.

The one thing I do appreciate about both businesses is that they do only a few things, but they do them very well. Too many places try and offer such a wide variety of food on their menu, that everything ends up being just mediocre.

been to both. in-n-out edges in burger, but 5 guys by miles in the fries category. i really really disliked in-n-out's fries.

I haven't been to 5 guys yet but In-N-Out isn't anything special.

When I moved to AZ I finally got to try In-N-Out and it's good, but nowhere near the orgasm people make it seem to be.

Haven't been to a Five Guys so can't comment there...

In-N-Out is better than the regular fast food places for a burger and fries, I just don't think it's something I'd go that much out of my way for.

I love 5 Guys although it can get a bit pricey at times, but the customization there is complete win.
