Going to Kannapolis this weekend
So my wife and I are taking the kids to Kannapolis this weekend. Going to do the Dale trail and visit all the race shops on the way back home probably going to go to Pigeon Forge and check out Dollywood. Planning on being gone about a week. Any other suggestions on things to do in those areas that include a 6 and 3 year old?“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Carowinds comes to mind... Especially if it's a hot day. It's an amusement park that sits on the North Carolina/South Carolina border off of I-77. I would guess it being about 45 minutes from Kannapolis. Take 85 West, then grab 77 heading south. -

Concord Mills is one of my favorite places to go to every time I visit Charlotte.#RespectTheCultureComment

When I was 8 & my bro 7, my folks took us to Tweetsie Railroad on our way home from Tennessee. We loved it.

I was curious since it was 30 years since I was there & I was a kid.
Tweetie Railroad is a 2 hour drive from Kannapolis, then 3 hours from there to Pigeon Forge.
A friend here @ work told me about this place, the Fun Depot in Asheville. He took his 5 & 3 yr old graddaughters there last month.

Re: Going to Kannapolis this weekend
Carowinds has a much larger collection coaster-wise than Dollywood does. Thunderhead and Tennessee Tornado (and to a lesser extent, Mystery Mine) are the only things worth riding there, whereas Carowinds has Afterburn, Nighthawk, Vortex, and a few others. However, holding off might be a good idea as they're adding a new coaster next year and it's expected to be a pretty big one.Comment

Don't know if they're home the weekend you'll be there but Kannapolis has a minor league baseball team formerly owned by Earnhardt, called the Intimidators. Nice ballpark, too.
And not too far up 85-North to 52 is Richard Childress Vineyards (yep, he has a winery). The Richard Childress Racing Museum is right there on the grounds too. That's probably a 20-30 minute drive from Kannapolis.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
