Help w/ HDMI: No Signal problem

Man, i've tried EVERYTHING to no avail, to get my HDMI cable to work w/ my PS3. the problem is before i got HD, the only way i can view my ps3 splash screen is w/ my 480 s-video setup. i think it's automatically reading that it's set up for s-video & 480...i CAN'T seem to change the resolution OR to HDMI...can someone help me this isht? thanks

I've tried to reset everything by holding the power button 'till the 2nd beep, & when it detects an HDMI cable, i click YES...then i get a "no signal" wtf????

I'm sure you've checked but make sure your connection is solid to the TV and the PS3. Also what I have done previously that works for me is change the input channel to like TV or AV1 for a few seconds then switch it back to HDMI.

If neither of those two suggestions help you may need a new cable.

    Good luck!

Any HDMI cable will work. I have a 9.99 "ebay special"/generic that I've had for 2 years that works great.

Can the s-video AND HDMI cable be in at the same time? If i don't have my s-video hooked up, i can't see a ps3 splash at all. my tv has as followed:

          video 1 - composite rear
          video 2 s-video rear
          video 3 composite side
          video 4 - s-video side
          video 5- component 1
          video 6- component 2
          video 7- VGA
          video 8- HDMI

so far i've tried video 2- that's where my s-video is now
          & video 8 HDMI...nothing

            I would remove the s-video all together. Try that. My set up is like this;

HDMI from ps3 to HDMI 1 port on the back of the TV. No S-Video.
            Optical audio to receiver.

Works awsomely. I just wish I had an HDMI receiver.

Re: Help w/ HDMI: No Signal problem

                To sum up
                1. you tried the hard reset (push and hold the power button till you hear three beeps)
                2. you have a new HDMI cable
                3. your connection is solid
                4. you've tried switching between tv inputs
                5. only get a screen when s-video is in but it won't change the resolution to hdmi.
                6. crap and a half I'm stumped

This is a tough one. Try the official PS forums. I know they have alot of threads on this. I'd post a link but my work won't let me on the site. If your still having probs when I get off work I'll look around tonight to see what I find and post back.

Did you do the hard reset without the S -Video plugged into PS3?
If not it may have been still reading it (whether it was hooked to TV or not)

So make sure nothing is plugged into PS3 except HDMI (Make sure tv is set to appropriate resolution/refresh rate)
Do the reset and see what happens...

                    I just tried removing s-video
                    did the power reset
set tv to HDMI mode---don't see anywhere to set resolution/refresh rate, all i have are modes.
results---still nothing. i'm takin' back cable to replace w/ another to see what happens...i guess.

Don't take this as a dumb question but I just want to be sure so we can get this sorted out for ya.

You did have the HDMI pluggged into the ps3 and the tv (and no s-video cable) when you did the hard reset correct?

just leave the Svideo plugged up (since you can see the screen) and once it loads up change your video output setting to "HDMI" and that should do the trick. Then unhook Svideo.
