Anyone live in KC, STL, or CHI?

A couple of my friends and I are going on a 10 day trip to Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago on August 8th. Flying into KC, staying for three days, driving from KC to STL, staying there for three days, then driving from STL to Chicago for four days.

Staying at the sports complex in KC, Hotelumiere in STL, and uhh....I can't remember on Chicago but it's in the middle of the city on Wabash St.

Any suggestions? Places to eat? We hear all about these types of places on the Food Network and stuff but I want to know where the REAL food is from the locals. I'm going to a ball game in every city too.

Is it safe where we're staying? What should we look out for in general?

Tips, tricks, ideas, whatever are greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you want to drive away from the city, but Paradise Pups has the best burgers I've ever eaten.

While in the city get some Garretts Popcorn. I thought it was big in other cities too, but incase you haven't had any.

I second the Garretts Popcorn. It can be a little on the greasy side. If you dont like that, goto the train station and get popcorn at Nuts on Clark or there is one near Wrigley Field also. When I worked near downtown Chicago, I liked Pizzeria Uno also. May want to check that out or maybe Ed Debevics. You can also check out some of the pricier restaurants that would be like Smith & Wollensky or Mortons Steakhouse.

Its a local show on Sundays and they hit all types of restaurants, bar&grills, etc; in Chicago.

In STL, Crown Candy is a great place.You should try doing the Malt Challenge.

Also, Fast Eddie's Bon Air, in Alton, Illinois which is just across the bridge from St. Louis.

Also, Pappy's Smokehouse.

Plus once you cross the bridge, you're that much closer to the strip clubs on the 'east side.'

Nearly any Italian restaurant on 'the hill' in st louis will be terrific. I'm sure the front desk can direct you to the hill.

If you are looking for nightlife, find washington avenue.

Awesome guys, really suggest it. I've heard East St. Louis is kind of an unsafe place, is it really a good idea for three guys to randomly venture into that area for some strip clubs?

When you are in KC you need to go to the Negro Leagues museum down on 18th and Vine. There is a BBQ joint down there called Arthur Bryants that is a KC institution. At night head downtown to the Power and Light District. It is near the new Sprint Center is and a pretty good place to party if you are into that. Just remember that there is a pretty strict dress code policy. There isn't much around the sports complex so you are gonna have to drive little way to find much of anything of interest.

Nice guys. We've already got Bryant's on the agenda, as well as the Negro League museum. That's going to be ****in' awesome.

PPM...yeah, we just wanted to get away for a bit. Boston/NY/Philly/DC was going to be too expensive, but I'm warming up to this trip a lot more than I would have warmed up to the other one.

Cooked on real Webers in house.
