    Getting a new car...

Alright so my 97 Civic is wearing down on me, although I keep it in fantastic shape and thought now would be a time to get a newer car (used more likely).

These are the cars I have been looking at (with most recent being last)
    09 Honda Civic Si
    09 Cobalt SS Supercharged
    05 Dodge Neon SRT4
and now, an 07 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3.

Ive been researching like crazy, which is why I have been led to my 4th different car in about a month. I have found a couple for some decent prices, but I wanna know what you guys think.
Anyone here have any of the cars I listed?

    Thanks for any info guys

Well, I see your in Cali but I'm not sure where Foothill Ranch is. But my dad sells used, late model imports. Mostly Porche, BMW, Audi, and VW. He also focuses alot on Diesels. Gotta love the MPG! I personally have a VW Gulf TDI, and its great! Gets great mileage and is fun to drive. But if you end up looking for a European, late model car, PM me.

Haha can I throw a Jeep Wrangler into the list. Just Kidding but if I had to pick from your list Id say the Mazda 3. My friend has one and loves it.

Add a VW Golf to the list. I think it's more value for your dollar. If gas mileage is a concern then consider the a TDi Golf. If not, then get a turbo.

I'd take the Mazda 3...don't care much for the Cobalt or Neon. Pick an import.

The gti was just too pricey for my tastes, and caranddriver and edmunds both preferred the Mazda S3 compared to the gti.

But I think I may have found the MS3 I wanted. If all goes well, tomorrow I will be driving home with this bad boy...

Still feels and looks new, especially for an 07. Perfect on car fax and even got the seal of approval from my girl.

You won't be disappointed with the Mazdaspeed 3, I bought mine in 07 and have never had so much fun driving! It's a complete sleeper and it's good on gas as far as I'm concerned.

I went with Cobb springs and a Mazdaspeed intake, it dynoed at 291 HP. I even drive mine in the winter and have never had a problem but I went with Nokian Hakkapeliitta's probably the best winter tires but really expensive too.

I still wish I had gone with the red but I like the black a lot so I guess I'm not too upset with my choice.
Driving this car is the highlight of my day in the morning and I find myself getting excited to drive it after work, I would suggest getting an intake not just for the 25+ HP it gives you but also to hear that Turbo whistle when you are tearing off an on ramp!

I was looking for a new car about a year ago and was looking for the same style of car you seem to be looking at. I test drove a supercharged Cobalt (08 I think) and I really liked it. It was smooth and had decent pickup.

Money was a concern though so I ended up buying a 2006 Mazda3 sedan for half the price of a new cobalt. I enjoy the car, it gets good gas mileage and looks good. Now, I can't compare performance to the mazdaspeed version of the car, but I can tell you that mazda3's have some really nice features (especially if you go with the i-touring addition). Starting in 2008 they came with an ipod jack for your radio, cd/mp3 player, Bose sound system and some things that I can't recall at the moment.

Yeah the Speed come's with Bose, 6 disc CD changer and an Ipod jack. And one of the biggest glove compartments I've ever seen! But the lamest sounding horn.. I swapped that out within the first month for a Stebel Nautilus

^ Yeah the horn is killer. But the trim I have is not the one with the Bose speakers (thankfully). I will eventually upgrade the sound system, and YES get an intake. I cant wait to get a valve for that turbo.

Im really glad I found red, especially considering the inside stitching is red and black, im a stickler for matching.

Your car looks awesome by the way, how much you get your intake for? And what type of place did you get it at? (Independent, chain, etc.)

I did research on the Mazdaspeed 3 and I didn't notice it was a turbo. It has great reviews and a whole lot of power for a hot hatch.

Don't even think twice. Get this car.
