Help..i have a terrible roommate

Ok. before i start let me apologize ahead of time because i might curse ALOT..I am f'ng FURIOUS right now.

I know the obvious thing you all will say is "just move"...but at this time financially I CANT "just move"

Anyway...my roommate is sooo grimey and dirty...he never cleans up, which is pretty bad..but thats nto the worst part.

This guy has a CAT...

He waits weeks/months on end to clean the litter box (which is located in the bathroom, so every time someone takes a shower, it literally hot boxeses the house with cat **** and piss smell)

Not only that...the Cat now has FLEAS...we are going on 4 ****ing months, that HIS cat has had fleas...

Just my luck that I get a severe allergic reaction to flea bites right?... FOR FOUR ****ING MONTHS these damn fleas have been in the house the house is literally infested...and the cat comes in MY room (the doors broken)...and I get fleas in my room, and of course my legs and the rest of my body are TORE UP.

Now i asked this guy on MULTIPLE occasions...PLEASE do something abut the litter box, and the fleas...Hes done nothing.

Well, he bought some "organic", flea spray, that never worked...and he doesnt apply the flea stuff to the cat on a regular basis.

I asked this guy to PLEASE buy some flea bombs and go take his cat to get a flea bath...He does nothing.

I show him my allergic reaction to the flea bties which are literally all over my legs...He does nothing.

IM AT MY BREAKING POINT.

I really want to kill this damn cat...I tried one day to let it run outside but it obviously came back..

What should I do?

i have the same problem.

my roommate is very messy. and just recently my girlfriend has been getting bites all over her. she has two cats that have brought fleas into our house. she hasn't done anything about it. my other roommate took the initiative to bomb the house one day but it didn't work to well and we are still getting bites.

you think the cat litter thing is a big deal? you should see our dining and living room and the kitchen. if our landlord wasn't super nice we would of been kicked out a long time ago. me and my girlfriend try to keep it decent downstairs but the others seem to make a mess all over again and never pick up after-themselves.

you name it, **** on the floor, fruit flies, fleas, ants down in the basement(everywhere) socks, bowls, food everywhere.

my advice go on craigslist. look for students that our going to school in your city that are looking to roomate with people. if you can find a cheap place along with 4 roomates your rent is easily under 200 a month. im paying 130 right now.

theres alot of later quarter college students looking for roomates to replace past graduated roomate. meet up with them, scope out the house and then the rest is all up to you.

i would move right now but im just sick and tired of moving. 3 times all ready in pittsburgh.

its HIS house.. im just renting a room..1 year lease i cant leave until december.. I JUST now vaccumed around my room again to get rd of the fleas in my room...

I have to barricade my door so the cat doesnt come in here.

but im copped up in ym room, its the only way to keep the fleas out

LOL @ letting the cat outside and thinking it wouldn't come back. Funny and ****ed up on so many ways lol.

You should refuse to pay him rent until he takes of his cat, which caused you to have an allergic reaction.

Seriously, I'd just move out.

For your door, either install a latch or use duct tape (if you can't drill).

If you're up to it, move in with your female friend until you can find a place.

Don't pay the rent until he gets rid of the fleas. You signed the lease not the fleas.

Tell him about the cat and if he doesn't do anything about it, tell him you wont pay, if that don't work let the cat outside, about 20 miles outside the crib.

i have a flea bite on my pinky...and 5 on my elbow...not to mention the DOZENS on ym legs.... HELL YEA

On the flea front, they hatch in generational waves so killing the active ones chemically does little to the eggs. You have to attack them in constant cycles but a little trick to help kill the ones in you room...

Plug in a night light, underneath it put a large cookie sheet with a layer of cooking oil over a layer of water. It'll attract the active fleas and trap them to drown. Keep doing it and it'll lower the flea count. Set up multiple traps if it's real bad.

I feel bad for you because of the situation but just ride it out. Not paying rent looks bad in court unless you pay it into escrow until the dispute is resolved. Renters rights vary from state to state but unless the cat moved in after you, it was a condition you agreed to (written or observed) on rental agreement signage.

Please don't kill anything or anybody, move out in December.

Put the cat in your car, drive to the farthest dumpster and you figure out the rest.

If you don't wanna do that give the mother****er fleas if he doesn't have enough already.
