College Students. How many hours do you work per week?

I worked 40+ hours second shift (2pm-10pm Sun-Thu, and 3pm-11pm Fri and Sat with no set days) during the summer while taking a summer course but cut back to 24 hours a week currently with school starting fulltime. I'm only working 2pm-10pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 2pm-11pm on Fridays.

Thankfully work is letting me have weekends off and a set schedule as second shift sort of screwed up my sleep schedule during the summer.

I'm trying to get my hours cut from 20-25 to 10-15. My Mondays and Wednesdays are loaded this semester, and I'd like to have some weekends off every now and then.

I work on the weekends and a couple days during the week for the kid that I have to watch so probably around 15 hours a week. Both of my jobs are so easy and pay so well that I try to get as many hours as I can so if I'm not doing anything on certain days I'll go in and see if they need me to work.

work 16 hrs a week.. MWF 10am-6pm

Tuesday-Thursday-Friday i coach 6-8

I worked 45 hours a week my first year in college. I got burnt out and actually quit going to school. Luckily I hurt my hand in a factory accident and went back to school while on workers compensation.

I worked third shift and since then I have been a night owl. In fact I usually don't go to bed until sunrise.

I don't think any full time student should work more than 10-15 hours a week. Enjoy the time while you can. Old people are bitter.

15-20 hours a week. Boss can't afford to have me more anyway.

I asked for a cut in hours...instead, I get class all day Monday, class til 12 Tuesday, then work 1-9, same for Wednesday and Thursday. I'm going to have 0 time to do work/study.

25 hours working Fri-Mon. Classes Tue and Th and Wed as my study/relax day.

Agreed. Obviously if college students are in a position where they must work large hours to survive that is one thing. But with the amount of work necessary to excel in college, I do not see how it is realistic to work more than 10-15 hours during a week as a student. I tried to limit my work during the school year as much as possible. Life is supposed to be fun, if you're working before you're supposed to be working and you don't need to be working to survive, then you should try not working.

I just started on at a shoe store in a mall. Not sure how many hours. I would be fine with only working 2 days a week at 12 hours a week just to have spending money coming in.
