Does anyone lie to get a day off?
I said I had a flu today, but I am actually hung over as hell. I was wondering if anyone else lies to not go to work. What do you usually do on those free days?Tags: None -

Re: Does anyone lie to get a day off?
Did it like 6-7 years ago. Sometimes you just have to have a day off. At least that's the way I feel.
EDIT:
LOL just remembered that I did it last June: I had a family thing at noon and I had to take the day off. Since I didn't have many vacation days at work ( I was pretty new there) I told them I was sick. The thing is, where I lived we had to get a paper from the doctor - that approves that "X can't work from __ to __ due to __ sickness", so I had to go to see the doc and pretend to not feel well...Lots of fun...haha.Last edited by youvalss; 08-29-2009, 07:56 PM.My Specs:

I called in for no reason last Saturday. Had a real chill, calm, trippy day too.

Re: Does anyone lie to get a day off?
Never.
Funny too, because we have unlimited sick leave.(that's the City's term for it....it's complicated, but it's FAR from unlimited in the sense you are thinking....but the deal is...if you cannot work for ANY reason(job related or not) you get paid.
Hardest part of the day is getting out of bed. The rest is a breeze.
Now...if I am hurt or seriously sick...I do not go to work.(okay...I gotta be carrying a limb or something...but..)

Re: Does anyone lie to get a day off?
If I work an opening shift at work and don't show up, my store doesn't open.
If I work a closing shift at work, that means whoever is working the opening shift has to work a double and is likely going to be uber-pissed at me.
In other words, I never call in.
Although I never really called in even before I had any responsibility. In my seven years of employment, I've missed work once. I don't like putting others in a bad position.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Re: Does anyone lie to get a day off?
Nope. I went on a seven year run without missing a day of work. Then we had our daughter and she brought home nasty stuff from the day care and I've been legitamitely missing 2 to 4 days a year with strep throat, etc.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: Does anyone lie to get a day off?
I don't think I've ever lied to call in. Only way I ever stay home is if I've been vomitting. Now that I have a little boy and with my wife working retail with no sick time of her own I don't have any sick days...my son is who owns my sick days.Comment
