Re: When I grow up i wanna be......
I'm currently in grade 11 (a junior) in highschool and I'm still not sure where I want to be. Though being a NBA broadcaster would be my dream goal. Because I was never good a basketball, but I had a great opportunity to live-broadcast a provincial tournament for sophomores and I hope to do it again this year. Might also be a part-time reservist as well within the Canadian Forces, but we'll see.Comment

Always a firefighter. I am one right now just volunteer at the moment. Someday hopefully be paid firefighter. Unfortunately the nearest major department requires you to live in the district in order to take the entry test. Just saving up for an apartment now and hopefully within the next 5-10 years ill make it.Comment

The New York City Fire Department hasn't hired a proby in 4+ years and we just gave the exam.
Did you take it?
(you should have)

Re: When I grow up i wanna be......
I did. I only got a 90. Luckily I'm young enough where I can take the test again. Considering into the city for the residency points. Also considering NYPD and EMS.GT:jb12780

Re: When I grow up i wanna be......
NYPD......if you plan on making the jump to FD....it's not like when I did(a LOOONG time ago)....where my time on PD counted towards FD in the aspect of pay. Your service time(towards retirement) counts...but the pay grade increases don't and you start from scratch. That's a tough one to take.
But it also doesn't increase your chances in getting to F.D.
But EMS......the jump to FD is considered a promotion. Now I'm not sure on the pay grade jumps...but it's considered a quicker route to the F.D.N.Y.
(for instance...the entire first class that is starting in January is all EMS promotionals)
...and you're right, ....you'll have to do much better than a 90 to make it. 95 or better...but without residency or vets time...you'll probably need closer to 98 or 99.
