    FedEx shipping question

I know we have quite a few guys who do a lot of e-business, so here is my question. I have a package that is coming from Council Bluffs, IA to Lexington, KY. Here is a quick breakdown of the package:

    Date/Time
    Activity
    Location
    Details
    Oct 24, 2009 10:49
    Departed FedEx location
    LENEXA, KS
Next scheduled tracking update: Oct 25, 2009
    Oct 24, 2009 01:44
    Arrived at FedEx location
    LENEXA, KS
    Oct 23, 2009 21:41
    Left FedEx origin facility
    COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA
    Oct 23, 2009 20:19
    Arrived at FedEx location
    COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA
    Oct 23, 2009 17:00
    Picked up
    COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA

Now, as you can see, it left Lenexa, and heading to Independence, KY, then onwards to Lexington. It says that my next tracking update will be tomorrow, and schedule delivery is on Tuesday.

Independence is around 2 1/2 hours from my house, so if it arrives in Independence today, why would it take until Tuesday to arrive?

Does FedEx operate on Sunday? Not delivery wise, as I know they don't do that, but do they still transport packages between hubs? Say... From Independence to Lexington on Sunday, so the package can be delivered Monday?

If not, then can I contact Fedex and have them hold the package at Lexington and I can pick it up mid-day on Monday?

I know, it looks confusing, but I don't want my TV to be stored any longer in the back of a truck with the cold temps that we are getting lately.

Trucks deliver.......however the people who unload and process the items on a truck dont be there on Sunday, not a lot of them anyway. Just be a few slim skeleton crew on Sundays. But by Monday everybody will be there to process the trucks.

Trust me, I use to unload UPS and FedEx trucks. One truck can contain over 3,000 boxes. Now on average they get around a half a dozen trucks a day. With christmas season about to begin, that will double the amount of trucks.

UPS you can have them hold it at your local distribution site, so I would think Fedex would do the same. On Monday, find out where it is. call them and see if they will hold it for pickup. It will depend if they know where the package is at and if they are unloading the truck then or that night. At minimum they can flag it to have it held if its not already on the truck for delivery.

So the package will still be in transit today & tomorrow? Or will it remain on the truck wherever it stops tonight until Monday morning?

Well, FedEx will not hold this package for delivery, quite frankly because they said they don't know where it is at the moment. lol. It's scheduled for a tracking update tomorrow. But if it left Lenexa early this morning... then it should be in Independence by now, if not already in route to Lexington.

Now... with that said, I'm just not sure if packages move from one hub/location to another on saturday nights, and sundays, or if they remain stationary. Hopefully someone else can chime in here on this.

The TV that was DOA, it took 9 hrs to get from Lenexa to Independence, and then 3 more hours to Lexington after a 2 hr delay in Independence.

Going by that, I'm just wondering, since it was in Lenexa at 10:49 am this morning, leaving for the next stop, it should be there by now... and onwards to lexington tonight/tomorrow/monday. I guess I'm just wondering if my tv will leave Independence and make it to Lexington tonight, or if it will stay there in the back of a truck for another night.

Its going to sit where ever it goes until about 2AM Monday. If it hasn't been updated, it hasn't been processed anywhere and is still where it was lasted scanned or sitting waiting to be unloaded. They update the tracking whenever it is scanned.

Why on earth does it say "Next scheduled tracking update 0ct 25, 2009? That's the part that's throwing me. And that it departed the last hub.
