BDoughty: So how long have you been with Operation Sports?
I have been with Operation Sports for a little over 6 months now. I came to Operation Sports after a stint with Sports Reviewers who gave me my first forum for reviews since the advent of the internet. Ages ago I wrote a few articles centered around Commodore gaming under an alias I used back then.
BDoughty: RustedWalleye... Do you spend alot of time fishing in the Hudson River or is there some other reason behind the username?
Actually I haven’t been fishing in a few years now. After sticking with the same name since the early 80s I decided to change my alias and wanted something unique. Was watching a race one day and Rusty Wallace’s name was mentioned and next thing you know the light bulb hit and Rusted Walleye was born. When I began using this name 5 years ago it was definitely unique, I see a lot more of it now, but as far as I know I am the original Walleye.
BDoughty: What sports teams do you follow? Do you have a favorite sport?
If it has action, possibility for contact, or blood involved it is followed. The sports I follow heavily though are football, baseball, basketball, racing, and recently started following hockey. I am a huge 49ers and Royals fan, those are the two teams I follow regularly. I am a closet Cubs fan and I won’t readily admit I follow the Bears, but I do know probably as much about that team as I do the 49ers, also anyone that plays the Cowboys is my favorite for the week as well. As for the other sports I just enjoy watching and usually follow different teams throughout the year. Heavily into college basketball and football as well in following the Gonzaga Bulldogs in basketball and the Iowa Hawkeyes in football and basketball.
BDoughty: Tell us about the Erickson family?
Been married for almost 10 years to my wife Lori. I have two step-sons, both in the Marines (one currently in the Philippines, and the other in basic training in San Diego, CA), a 9 year old son, and another son who just turned a year old. Grew up in Rockford, Illinois where I lived for almost 28 years before moving to Iowa 4 years ago.
BDoughty: Other then sports gaming, do you have any hobbies?
Since I rarely drink and I don’t smoke my curse seems to be my addiction to gaming in general, which probably is just as bad as the other two, but I don’t plan on giving it up. Other than that I am currently on a temporary self-imposed retirement from softball to recover from various injuries over the past few years. I also am a wanna-be golfer, who can drive the ball 300+ yards, unfortunately playing 2 or 3 fairways to the left or right of the current hole doesn’t help my round any. Not much else to say that isn’t more boring than the previous information.
