Posting Pictures Of Your Children On Facebook

I don't know if I am cool when folks post an abundance (or any for that matter) of pictures of their babies/kids on Facebook. I guess maybe because I am such a private person I can't ever imagine me doing this.

I know folks are proud and want to show their kids off, but I always think about when the child gets older and them possibly being bothered with the amount of pictures of them that are already in Cyberville.

Not talking down about anyone that does it but just curious if I am the only one that feels this way. I could see this being a problem with the woman of my kids because I am pretty sure she is going to want to show off her creation.

    I come in peace
    Concrete evidence/videos please

If you are using facebook to connect with friends and family that you dont see often posting pics of your kids saves the trouble of emailing multiple people... and if your profile pics or set to display for specific people anyway then I dont see the issue.

Good point, but most people don't use Facebook for just friends and family. This is where I am having the issue.

i dont have a problem with it but i can see why some people do. For example like a child predator could find your kid easier or something like that
        MLB: Texas Rangers
        Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
        NCAA: SMU, UTA
        NFL: Dallas Cowboys
        NHL: Dallas Stars
        NBA: Dallas Mavericks

^ People are hip to keeping their profiles private so the chances of THAT are slim. Unless one of their "friends" are creeps

What do they (most) use it for then?

I meant to say folks use it more for friends than family since he brought up the point of people doing it for family members to see pics of kids.

And then you have parents that put pictures of kids doing things they have no business doing. Dancing provacatively and putting up their middle fingers. That is more so young and mature parents, but there are a lot of them

I've never seen anything like that. Then again my friends are generally good parents.

Re: Posting Pictures Of Your Children On Facebook

I joined FB about a year ago. All of a sudden, my old HS friends starting showing up on FB.

I was pestered to put up a shot of our children. My wife was totally against this and her reply was put up a picture of our dog if anything.

I was chatting to one of the HS friends one night and she said, they do have privacy settings, put on private and only your friends can see your pictures.

I didn't even realize that, so, that's what I did. No more worries on this end.

I think what he meant is, some people don't solely have longtime friends and family listed as friends on Facebook.

Facebook and Myspace is used majority of the time for online booty calls. That is the sad reality of it all. But far as kids pics, as long as their profile is set to private then more power to them.

Hell I know a lot of moms that have their cell phone LOADED with pics of their kids. Which is even more dangerous if you so happen to lose your phone.

Pretty sure that's the main reason people use it...

I, for one, am sick of people using their kids as their "default" picture on social networking sites. I don't care when people post pictures of their kids and all, but when it is their default picture it kind of bothers me a little because it's not really "them" so to speak.

One thing I absolutely HATE though is when pregnant women constantly post belly pictures on Facebook. Yuck!
