You guys used to have THE BEST chicken strips and your fries were second best only to McDonald's.

Why would you change what's not broken

There has to be a way for them to change it back

Carl's Jr? Hardee's? I think I ate at a Hardees once in Virginia while on my way to a NASCAR race in Bristol, had a huge roast beef sandwich. Anyway, to the OP, I feel you pain. I hate it when places change there menus and/or how they cook stuff so the food is no longer as good as it had been in the past.

They tried to make the fries more "natural" tasting just like Jack in the Box.

Their fries used to be much much tastier before the change. The fries now taste too potatoey.

Funny, as a former Californian now living in Houston, I am without a CJ's within 150 or so miles. Went to Cali this past weekend and the first stop off the plane was Carl's (In and Out a higher priority, but wanted to save that one for dinner). First thing I noticed was the change in fries. I thought they were good, maybe not as good as the old ones, but the old ones for me were always soggy, maybe it was just my local Carl's, but I was never impressed by the texture of the old ones. However, they always seemed to salt them to perfection.

Yeah I definitely know what you mean by "too soggy"

However you may have just had a bad Carl's in your area.

I used to only go a certain Carl's because they always made the fries how they were supposed to be.

Other Carl's didn't do the fries right and they had too much grease.

The one that I went to the fries were always perfectly crisp and the texture was

When one of these fast food joints realizes that real fries are fried twice, they'll simply own the competition.

It's so simple... a blanch fry at 325 and then a finish fry at 375 to make them perfect... don't cut them so damn thin like stupid McDonald's and a double fry will still give you that golden crispness they're known for. It's even stupider because right now they fry them from frozen at 375, which is why you get those batches that are nothing but floppy greasy mess and others that are fine... the frozen fries cool down the oil too much, especially if it's a large batch.

If they went the Dutch/pomme frite route, they could have batches of pre-blanched fries ready to go and the total frying time would be less, making them get to the customers faster and with more consistent quality on the texture and flavor. Damn morons need to learn from the street vendors in Amsterdam.. they churn out batch after batch of un****witable fries from freshly-cut potatoes on a shoestring budget.
