New TV!? Why does everything look like its 3D?

Just got a LG 55in LCD with Trumotion and every HD program looks like its been filmed with a camcorder. Its hard to explain it, its almost too distraction to watch.

Is this the future of TVs with higher refresh rates or is this a problem with the unit?

Try turning Trumotion off. My 47'' LG LCD was like that when I first bought it.

Some people actually like it as it looks good for some programs. Others, not so much. It's really just a feature to get used to otherwise.

To turn it off, find an option in the picture or setup menu settings that says something like "120 Hz" or "Trumotion" and turn it off or to 60 Hz. I've never owned an LG but I know they use Trumotion technology, so whatever it's called in the options may be different from Samsung (which I'm used to).
