    ESPN MAGAZINE/INSIDER

I bought a two year subscription for ESPN the Mag with one of the deals posted here a while back. When I try to activate ESPN Insider with the magazine account number, it prompts me to enter my credit card information and says I will have insider access at "NO EXTRA CHARGE" until my subscription is up and then my card will be charged. Am I missing something? I've already payed for a two year subscription and if you have ESPN the Mag you get Insider for free. It should just activate ESPN Insider once I enter the magazine account number...correct?

Yeah, pretty much, but I did it the other way, I bought the insider and the mags started coming.

I think it's just saying it wants the card number for when the two years is up.

it makes you enter your card number to keep track of your account so that when the two years is up it will automatically enroll you in an additional year or two and thus automatically charge you card. You must cancel it before that two year date occurs in order to not be charged for it. This is similar to the way XBOX live works if you subscribe to a full account.

This isn't a direct correlation to the OP's issue, but in a related story I've had ESPN magazine since it first started in '98 and as soon as my subscription runs out I'm finished. The main issues I wanted was the previews (like NFL, MLB, NCAA, etc.) but it's nowhere near as comprehensive as it used to be and most of the articles can now be found on the internet. Maybe it was just me but I found their recent "semi-nude" issue extremely inappropriate.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

^ One of my boys who works at ESPN gave me his log-in which has Insider activated (all employees have it) so I get to check out the Insider stuff for free.

I would never pay for it, some of the content is cool but most is nothing special.

Doug Gottlieb's Insider article that graded every BCS conference team in the country was pretty stupid, it was 1-2 line blurb on each team and a letter grade based on their preseason expectations and how they fared in failing, reaching or exceeding the expectations. Basically I could have written the same thing.

I have Insider that way too. Friend of mine bought it last month and gave me his log-in info. It's alright. A lot of cool stuff and good articles, but nothing that would make me pay for it. I didn't care to be pay for it before and I don't care to pay for it now.

I don't find insider to be worth it at all. I only have it along with the Mag subscription. I do like the Mag though. I have a subscription to both SI and The Mag and they both usually come often enough so that I always have something to read in the bathroom.

The Player X column for the NFL was one my favorites. I also like the Kenny Mayne interview at the end.
