Thanks everyone. Might not be worth the trouble if they make a big deal out of scanning it and it holds us up. It's already our first flight with our baby, so we probably don't need any further complications. Not to mention the grief I'll get from the wife just for taking it in the first place...

It usually doesn't take them too long to look at it. You just basically take it out and they press all the buttons on it, sometimes swab it for some reason, doesn't take more than 5 minutes.Owner, Spear Interactive

Re: Who takes their console with them on the road?
When I moved up here to Alaska, I had my 360 as carry-on. They made me remove it from my bag so they could look at it, but it was relatively pain-less. But I didn't have a wife to rag on me for it in the first place, so maybe it's a different experience for you...Comment

Re: Who takes their console with them on the road?
I fly every week, but I've only flown with a 360 after I bought in a tax free state. All you have to do is take it out of the bag and put it in a separate bin, just like a laptop. There will be no hassles, unless you get selected and then they will just wipe it with a pad to check for bomb residue. If you don't remove it from the bag, then it will cause problems.
DON'T pack it in the checked luggage though. It might not be in your bag when you get it.
Also, since you're new to flying, if your bags are close to the carry on bag sizes, take them with you through security. You get 1 bag for each person, your baby also counts, and then 1 personal bag (backpack, purse, etc). Then just have them check it at the gate. This is free and a way to get around the airlines horrible baggage fees.Comment

Take the console and leave the wife at home. I think that solves everything. Thanks everyone. Might not be worth the trouble if they make a big deal out of scanning it and it holds us up. "It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Who takes their console with them on the road?
Ha, this conversation just came up last night between me and my wife. Were going home in a week and a half and I told her I'm thinking of taking the PS3 with me. She was like, "uhh were going home to visit our famalies for Christmas and we will be busy, were not going home for you to play video games." LOL..still undecided what I want to do.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Who takes their console with them on the road?
I flew back home in August and took the 360 with me. Had it in my backpack and going through security was easy. All I had to was take it out the bag.Fav teams:
