Do not force your beliefs or way of life on me rant

Why do people find it necessary to try to force their way of life or belief system on you ? One of my neighbors, just a few years older then me is always trying to force his belief system on me.

He is one of those guys that dont let their wife go anywhere without him types. He basically control everything what she does, from what to cook, what to wear, etc.

And he always look at me and say wow you let your woman go to the store by herself ? Or you let her go to Chicago by herself ? And one time while shoveling snow we were talking about dinners and stuff. He was going on how he has his wife follow a strict schedule. Basically they eat the same thing on the same day of every week.

I was saying well no, we arent like that. Sometimes she has a taste for something and she will cook what she has a taste for. And he just looked at me and said that aint normal bud, you suppose to tell her what to cook and when to cook it.

Now mind you he is only 3 or 4 years older then me, so I am surprised he is thinking that way about women in this day and age.

My woman can go where ever she wants to go by herself. Cook what she wants to cook. She is a grown woman not a child.

They actually can and you're not being productive to the thread.

It doesn't matter the time period, people have different ways of life. It's possible he grew up with a father that believed in this system and was taught that it is the true way to life. I'm interested in knowing if he has a sister and how she acts with her husband? I wouldn't be surprised if she allowed a man to dominate her decisions.

Anyway, I think you have the right attitude. No matter the gender, people are people and they each deserve their independence and opportunity to make their own decisions. She was already raised once by her parents, she doesn't need someone else telling her what to do as an adult.

Isn't trying to tell people how much affection they can show to their loved one forcing a belief on them?

LOL in a way it is, I just thought about it.

And yeah he has a sister, older then him and she lets her boyfriend dominate her too.

That's a good point, but I don't think the OP ever said he tried telling the guy how to treat his wife.

I thought he was mostly angry that the guy was telling him how to treat his significant other.

Because pretty much everyone thinks the way they live life is the proper way, and everything they believe in is right. It's just human nature to want to make other people see things your way.

I try to just not care.

I believe no one can force their beliefs on you unless its your mother/father guardian someone who has a direct influence on you. If its just a co-worker or my next door neighbor preaching at me about something I just shut them out or listen for comedy.

hahaha... except he's like the anti-DC in this thread.

Let people live their own lives and not try to change them? DC would never do that. Every thread he created was to try to get people to think HIS way about stuff.
