DC Cop pulls gun after people throw snowballs at cars.

Around 2.30PM on Saturday, December 19, during a historic snowstorm, residents at the intersection of 14th and U Streets NW started throwing snowballs at passing Hummers.

One of the cars pelted was driven by a plainclothes police officer identified only as Det. Baylor. Baylor got out of his car and brandished his gun at the crowd.

Reason.tv's Dan Hayes was on the scene, capturing the tense confrontation between police and citizens who chanted "Don't bring a gun to a snowball fight!"

Approximately 5 minutes; harsh language throughout.

Wow, what a mess. I side with the officer that kids shouldn't be throwing snowballs at moving vehicles. It's dangerous. Also, that's not a snowball fight.

I also think the kids did something to piss the officer off before the gun came out. Is it ok then? No, but the kids aren't innocent. I can't believe the way they disrespected those officers.

What a terrible detective for getting out and trying to stop a huge snowball fight! I hope those kids go back to having fun and throw snowballs at moving cars so people crash and get injured!

No, but it is also not fine for a bunch of people throwing snowballs at moving cars. What if a snow ball hits the windshield blinding the driver and causes a wreck?

And the title of this thread is off. It wasnt a snowball fight. It should be, "DC cop waves gun after hummer hit with snowballs."

No way, then it wouldn't be as exciting. Clearly there was nothing done wrong by anybody other than the cop who drew his gun. Isn't that pretty much the point of the thread?

Yep people were just throwing snow balls at each other having fun and the cop comes out of no where gun drawn for no reason at all.

I mean its not like those people were throwing snow balls in traffic. No way.

God I hate people like the ones in the video, especially the camera man.

This group seemingly thinks they know what is safe and what is not when a detective draws a weapon, yet they throw snowballs at passing vehicles. Rrrrright....

I don't know if it was the camera giving them the courage or
if they just are too stupid to understand that it probably isn't a good idea to distract people when they are driving in a storm. Also, imagine if they did hit a car with the wrong man driving it and also carrying a weapon. Then it would be "Whoops, this guy is pissed and now he's shooting at us. We better call the police!"

But people don't think like that. All of these people on the sidewalk were able to run their mouth and come off tough until they were in someones back seat, hog tied, and begging to be let go while addressing everyone as "Sir."
