Best/Worst gifts you've given/received?

I'm just curious about gift giving around this time of year. I tend to not give (or receive for that matter) many gifts period, including Christmas, birthdays, etc. Not real big on it. I'll take a little cash happily though.

Anyway, I figure that in my near future, I'd like to make my mark by giving "priceless" gifts. Gifts that have much more value than their pricetag (if they have one).

So what are the best gifts that you feel you have given or received? And name the worst just for poops and giggles.

The worst....when I was 10 years old, which was 20 years ago, I got a 100% wool sweater. It was just awful and ugly looking with its bright girly looking colors and mountain outlines. My parents made me wear it to school the 1st day back from christmas break and I got laughed at for the rest of the school year.

My best had to have been when me and my brother both got a PS2 out of the blue. Didnt have a single game for it, but it came with that jam pack demo that had about 8 demos on there. We played that all day and night. Then the next day I went out and bought Madden LOL.

Best: PS2 the first year it came out. I (along with everyone else in America) wanted one, but understood that there was no chance I'd get one. Then one day the week before Christmas my mom walked into a store who had just gotten a shipment of them and bought one.

Worst: Because they had already gotten me presents, they made me pay for the PS2.

Worst: for my birthday one year i got a USED dvd of the movie "Stuck on You". It still even had the big used stick and price tag on the case. Never watched it nor do i ever plan on it.

Best: easily a baseball signed by the 1997 Marlins. It was the day after my 10th birthday and we went to a game against the Expos, Marlins won 4-2 and then later that night after we got home i got to see Mike Tyson bite off Evander Holyfield's ear on SportsCenter. Also i nearly got my head taken off by a David Segui foul ball.

Best: GT season tickets for 3 years

Worst: any clothes from any family member or lady friend (I'm the pickiest person about my clothes and I only roc the Horse)

Worst: having to keep a 3.0 in a pretty hard school in order to drive it

Best: Vinyl Player with 2 Crates of record that were handed down to me. The vinyl player was a cool present, but the 2 crates of records was nice because it jump-started my record collection.

Worst: My (then) girlfriend bought me some Super Mario Pajamas (along with some other gifts that I liked) instead of Mass Effect, which is what I repeatedly told her that I wanted. She told me that she didn't get me Mass Effect because I would spend less time with her.

Best: Sega Genesis when I was kid, or my Sirius Radio last year

Worst: My grandma had dementia so some of the sweaters I would get from her were handme downs she used to wear. The best one was a Christmas sweater she used to wear that she gave me last year.

Any gift is appreciative but the worst is for sure thermal socks....And I live in Oregon. It rains here...Not snow.

The best is probably a set of Nike Golf Clubs...A good set. The curious man I am I checked online....They were valued at $1200

Worst: All in the same year.. I think this is when holiday excitement came crashing down:

- 2 bags of Doritos taped together.
- An imitation soccer ball that was the size of a softball with MLS teams on it.
- 2 pieces of transparent blue plastic melted together - one was a straight square and one was a hollow cylinder. I actually had to ask what it was. What was it? A pencil holder.
- And last but not least: An "operation game" pen. Remember the board game "operation"? You try to pick these bones out of a person with tweezers without touching the charged rim around the orifice of where they lay. If you touched the rim, it'd "buzz" and you'd lose. It was a race against the lock. Well the operation pen has one bone and comes with a separate mini tweezers to pick out the one bone whenever you feel.

All those gifts came the same year. I was 16 freaking years old! I have some very stupid relatives... I also bet nobody can top that for a crappy child Christmas!

Whenever I was three I got a toy jeep FULL of candy canes. That was awesome.

All the weird **** my aunt always gets me.

Best gift - A Star Wars AT-AT when I was a kid. The box it came in was huge.


Worst gift - We had a grab bag at work with a $10 limit years ago. The person who picked my name forgot about it and just gave me $10.

My worst gift came last year when I received a random book on "the keys to success" as a primary gift because, according to my stepmother, I often posed like the guy on the cover, who was doing this:

Those claims were completely unsubstantiated and I most certainly do not pose like that. I was very polite regarding the situation at hand and thankfully I was able to make an exchange, but I was still a little riled up inside.
