Re: Any paranormal things you believe in?

With regard to aliens, if other life must stay true to our conventions and harbor water, there are millions of planets out there that probably have or once had water, so in my opinion this makes a good argument for the possibility extraterrestrial life existing somewhere.

I also laugh when people say that they believe in aliens but as mushrooms or microscopic organisms, nothing as intelligent as humans. With regard to intelligence, chances are you are always in the middle of something. If aliens exist, I don't think planet earth holds the dumbest nor the smartest organisms in the universe. Statistically, it is much more likely you are in the middle of something than at a polar extreme.

IMO saying no other life exists feels as wrong as saying the world is flat. I think there are millions if not billions of things out there so far away from our solar system that we don't even know about. We live with the myopic mindset that since we haven't found anything near or around our solar system, this raises doubt for the entire universe. Just because you can't reach out and hug your mother doesn't mean she isn't downstairs doing the laundry.

This is a very good way to put it. Put a quarter on the floor. The circumference of the quarter represents the area of the universe we have either explored or can see. The rest of the world represents the universe.

Exactly. I always am with the concept of looking below you to get what's above you as like I said I think we're always in the middle and never at the top of bottom. If you look at ants, one hundred yards to us is like the entire world to them. What if the entire world to us is one hundred yards to something else? Think about how ants might perceive our existence. They are probably ignorant and don't understand the significance of other organisms around them and in their way believe they are top dogs based upon what they can "see". To us, based upon what we can "see" we're the top dogs as well. The fact is, it's our human brains limiting us.

Ants probably view humans as an extension of the environment, much like humans view something like weather or anything else. I firmly believe like any other organism in existence, our mind limits us into perceiving things from a very humancentric point of view, sort of like human beer goggles in a sense. If you understand it is just your human mind limiting you, the concept of other entities or life forms seems like a real possibility. Once you realize you will never see the Forrest from the trees, suddenly you are thinking outside the woods.

I don't really hold much of an opinion on aliens. They may exist; they may not, but there's no evidence either way and it's all speculation. I can't prove that they do exist, but I also can't prove that they do not exist.

          Drake's equation states:

          where:
<dl><dd>N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible;</dd></dl> and
<dl><dd>R* = the average rate of star formation per year in our galaxy</dd><dd>fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets</dd><dd>ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets</dd><dd>fℓ = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point</dd><dd>fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life</dd><dd>fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space</dd><dd>L = the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.[2]</dd></dl>If any one of those variables are zero, then there are no alien civilizations that we can come in contact with.

Dude, on some planet in some far away galaxy, there is something that has a brain. If there is a Ant like species that lives below the Mars surface, that would be an alien. Space is just to huge to believe there is not a planet like earth out there that has life on it. Since water supports life, and scientists have proven that Water was once on Mars, it is very likely that even Mars had some kind of life on it.

You have some proof to go along with that opinion or just merely speculation?

Most of these recent posts are indirectly stating what is known as the Fermi paradox. In a nutshell, this states that if there are other intelligent lifeforms out there, why can't we hear/see them or signs of their existence? There are many possible solutions to this paradox including.

                1. Sentient life is spread so thin through the universe that contact is unlikely
                2. Advanced civilizations simply have no interest in making contact or revealing themselves to us (something like the Federation Prime Directive from Star Trek)
                3. Advanced civlizations use advanced means of communication that we are as yet unable to detect.
                4. The speed of light truly cannot be surpassed and thus intersteller travel is difficult. Also implies that any artifacts launched by intelligent races would likely not survive the millennia needed to cross intersteller distances.

Of course, this only refers to intelligent life capable of being seen or heard and says nothing for non-sentient lifeforms.

Interesting theory, but I believe that aliens have already made contact and are here. I know a lot of people will think I'm a kook for believing this, but I have done a ton of research to lead me to this conclusion.

This is just a small piece of very credible evidence out there that supports the theory that alians not only exist, but have been here for a long time.

I watched it but I'm still pretty skeptical. Seemed like a lot of beating around the bush and no concrete details. 57 different species of aliens documented and some even walking amongst us? Weird.

Don't get me wrong. I dont think everything that is said in that is true. But, how can you refute decorated military officers. They are risking everything by coming out with this info.

Also check out the UFO at Rendlesham RAFB.

I believe in aliens/UFOs also. I would really like to see one along with a full fledged documentary of all of the extensive research The United States has put into Area 51 and what not. A legit documentary, not an hour long one on The History Channel.

And I actually do have a hunch the Loch Ness Monster was real but passed away and is now just lies in the rubble of the Loch.
I now know there is intelligent life out there. They have reached us, past and present. It's documented throughout time.
