Largest Gators

Being that I am from Louisiana and have ran across my share of large gators. Some for sure as large as 13 foot or better. I was doing some researching into it today.

Well I was bored at work and ran across the world record Alligator which supposed measured 17' foot in Florida. This one is 13' Shot in Texas.


Now compare that to the Crocodile. The largest ever captured was 20 foot. and Weighted in at over 2,500 pounds.



Yet that is still nothing next to the Largest Salt Croc ever Killed. it measured 28'4" long with 13 foot girth. It is the largest ever recorded. It was shoot in Queensland in 1957. There is no pictures of it, instead a replica was made of it. Even if the cast is wrong and it is hard to believe a 28 foot gator can exist, there is a living 23 footer in Bhitarkanika Park and is in the Guinness book of world records.

Then last but not least is this discovery. It lived back in the dinosaurs and they have found bones that reach up to 40 foot long.

I'm pretty sure we need to firebomb Australia.

Not to mention all the sharks they have. I couldn't imagine going to the beach and having to look out for saltwater crocs.

I researched into it. It is not photo shopped. But it was labeled as a 23 foot alligator. But it is a illusion, the Gator is in the foreground, which makes it look larger. You can tell this by the position of the truck. Then the guy is in the background. Which also makes the gator look much larger.

After doing some checking around. It is a 13 footer. It is big but nothing out of the ordinary. A hunting camp we go to, has two 13 footers in one of the ponds near the camp. We shoot birds out of tree for them. When they hear the sound of shotgun blast it is like dinner bells. They just come and make a bee line straight where we are so they can get some grub.

Yeah thats pretty big, the biggest one I've ever caught was about 4 feet.

We were running catfish jug lines out in the marsh. We ran like 50 - yo'yo's, 20 - Jug lines, and 10 or so trout lines. Well the next morning when we went check them. I could see this one line had almost the whole tree pulled down into the water. As we got close with the boat, I watched this gator pull almost the whole damn tree out the ground trying to get off. We pulled up real close and put a .22 in back its head. Pulled it behind the boat back to the house. When we got back home, we knew it was a nice size. Did not expect it to be a 9 footer though.

So yea, I am a coonass and my good buddy lives right on the bay. So it is nothing but a 10 min boat ride to the gulf of Mexico. We spend alot of time hydro sliding, fishing, running lines, jet skies, etc etc. Out on the water. Its how we grew up out here. Gators are just part of the territory.

The coolest thing we use to do is wait until really bad weather would come in and the red flag(small craft warning) would go out. Which is prevent any small boats from going out into the bay. We would load the jet skies up with beer and go and catch 6'+ waves in the bay. Talk about a f-ing rush, hitting sky scrapper waves in the mist of a thunder storm drunk
