And other than the general topic being intellectual property rights, nothing in this is remotely similar to Napster and the RIAA.

Oh, I know. Problem is, the knockoffs are spot on. So people are buying them up like hotcakes. Like I said, I've had a few. But I never realized how big of a deal it was. Guess I kinda knew it wasn't legit, but turned a blind eye. Man, like I said, Big Deal!I'm out of it. My Carson Palmer jersey should hold me for a while. It's not worth much anyway!

Wasn't trying to equate the two. For me personally and the things that interest me, the two go together. Used to do Napster and Kazaa pretty heavy. When they were legit, meaning legal. Big crackdown/ called illegal, I went legit. Retiring from the knock-offs, too. I might live in a bubble, but I've never heard of legal action being taken about them, until now.

Good for the NFL? Really? This is a company that charges 200-plus dollars for a piece of cloth with numbers sewn on it and has basically made it so casual fans can't go to games anymore unless they're willing to eat Top Ramen for a month. I see no issue with knockoffs.

Before a judge said they were illegal. Before Metallica and the RIAA filed suit. Just like GameXCopy and DVDXCopy were before the suits started filing lawsuits. I'll use any program or wear whatever as long as it's not illegal. I'm all about stretching the buck. But, not at the risk of legal action. I don't really care about who gets the buck, just as long as I get to keep most of them and get a semblance of what I want. I'm not that picky, or driven by materialism. Just want a few things that I enjoy....

Ehh, I've moved on from buying authentics, to trying to get "game cut" jerseys because there are so many knock-off out there these days. It was worse 2 years ago when all the rappers where wearing mitchell and ness throwbacks. I remember being all excited when I got my Doug Williams 1986 in white only to see three dudes with the fake ones two days before I got mine.

Game Cuts are a lot harder to find, so far though I've manages to get a Darrius Heyward Bey (ugh, just wanted to have one and he did go to Maryland so I could wear it when they black out Byrd), and I'm close to getting a Rock Cartwright game worn jersey with the pink captains patch. $$$$

Stealing intellectual property (i.e. music) from those with the copyrights to it has always been illegal. The RIAA and co. only filed lawsuits when they began losing money hand-over-fist.

This is not to be holier-than-thou or to say I have never use Kazaa / etc.; I did. Stopped when it started killing my friends' computers, however.

When I used to do P2P back in the day it was brand new. There were no legal challenges to it. I'm not a lawyer or make my living through IP's, so I really had no idea. As soon as the court cases started, I stopped. Now, if I chose to skirt the laws that I'm now aware of, I would be making an informed decision, and you could dog my character with some type of righteous indignation. Traffic laws are a poor choice of an example. From the time I learned to drive, I knew about traffic signs.

Now maybe studying law and having it consume every aspect of your life is cool for you. I just find out how to stay on it's good side. I wasn't even promoting knockoff jerseys. I said, "illegal?I'm done." Just really never thought about how big of a deal it was. Just wanted a cheaper jersey that nobody knew wasn't real. But as they say, "all that glitters ain't gold." It's not worth going to some flea market booth and getting busted to save a few bucks. I can just do without. Peace and no hard feelings. Just was trying to show that the NFL is taking note of the quickly growing knockoff trade. Just like the media bigwigs did with music/games/movies.
