Anyone remeber the original nerf turbo football
around 20 years ago Nerf released the Turbo football. It gave 12 year old kids the chance to be able to throw the ball as far as an nfl QB. I recently was able to pick one of these up off of ebay and i had a blast with it as i was able to fire a pass a good 70 yards at a local field. just wanted to know if anyone remembered this great football

I don't remember that one, but I remember the Vortex howler thing that had a tail on the end and made this ridiculous sound...seriously identical to the whistle tips. Bubb Rubb would approve.Comment

I remember that one too when I was in the 3rd grade (1992)
I never really could throw far with the nerf but the vortex is another thing. I can bomb it with that one even at the age of 9 or 10. I couldn't throw no 70 yarders with the nerf. Maybe a good 25-30 yards at the time.Comment

Yep, I went through a couple of them back in the days. There were actually a couple threads on the subject a few months ago.

Re: Anyone remeber the original nerf turbo football
I hated the one with the tail on it. Even if you could bomb it 70 yards, you couldn't play a real game with it, it had a ****ing tail! And the one with the whistles on the sides? Ever try to catch one of those and work your fingers over as a little kid because it landed on the hard plastic whistle? F those, too. The best one was the orange light-up one. You could squeeze it and flip the switch on the inside and it would light up! Awesome! Perfect for keeping kids outside later than they should be.Comment

Re: Anyone remeber the original nerf turbo football
NERF Turbos were awesome until some a-hole ripped the nose off...which ALWAYS happened.
Every group I knew had that one kid who wouldn't leave the ball alone, and he'd always end up slowly ruining it by ripping off pieces. Our NERF saboteur was named Joey. lolLast edited by BTG; 01-11-2010, 11:39 PM.Comment

I hated that guy. We would make it a point to throw it at his head whenever the opportunity arouse. Hilarity ensues.HELLO BROOKYLN.

That whistling ball hurt like a mother to catch in the dead of winter.
Does anyone remember the miniature footballs with team logos on them from the same era? Those were the rage at my school over the Nerf balls.Comment

Re: Anyone remeber the original nerf turbo football
This brings back memories of our recess games where every recess we would take turns being the lookout to make sure the teachers backs were turned so we could keep playing tackle. We had a code for when they were looking so everyone knew when it was two hand touch time.Comment

We also had the various Nerf and Vortex ones, but those were more for fun/throwing and not actual games.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
