    Grandfather's in rough shape

man I just got some tough news this morning....

My grandfather apparently vomited and coughed up blood last night. He was taken to the hospital this morning and he has pneumonia, kidney failure (not too sure about that but that's the early news) and he has more white blood cells then red ones.

My grandfather's a tough old guy but those are some crazy odds to have to overcome. I'd appreciate it if you guys can throw some support my way.

    Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I hope he can somehow recover from this, but kidney failure is pretty serious. My thoughts and prayers are with you, man. Stay up.

            Thanks guys.

I got some good news afterwards. It turns out it isn't pneumonia but bronchitis and the kidney problem isn't a failure (WHEW!) but it's something they need to take a look at. I'm not all too sure what it is but something's not right with the kidney.

My grandfather is doing a bit better now as I hear he's getting some color back and is resting comfortably in the hospital. I wouldn't say he's completely out of the woods but at least it's not as bad as early reports indicated.

As someone with a 100 year old grandmother and an 81 year old mom, I know what you're going through...

                    It's always a challenge...

                      Re: Grandfather's in rough shape

That sucks dude, my grandpa died in September this year...he was 94, a war vet, a great grandfather. He was a hero to me, always happy no matter what...even going into the hospice where he was going to die..and we all think he knew he was going to die there, making jokes and putting smiles on faces, all the nurses loved him, luckily I got to see him right before he died, unluckily he was very weak...he couldn't talk..he dropped heavily 2 days before we got there...and he died on my way back home. But as long as I remember him I know I always have him. And he was a war vet to add...and unlike many others back then, even in New Jersey, he never said/was racist. He actually danced and kayaked and biked and all that until he was 90.

And that's great for your good news, but as long as you have your memories with him, he will always live on forever, and that's all that really matters...

Not that its good to hear that he's still feeling bad, but this news is better than the previous.

Keep him and your family in my thoughts, as hopefully the news continues to get better.

                              Just an update:

First, thanks for the concern and well wishes my family and I appreciate it.

My Grandfather is doing a lot better now and has left hospital. He's resting comfortably at home now. It's been tough on the ol' guy as he's been in and out of hospital for one reason or another the last 2-3 years.

                              Again thanks!
