You ain't gonna BELIEVE WTF just happened!!!

aiight, i was upgrading a cpu to XP...one that was gave to me, anyway...i was waiting for this process...i believe the cpu had the win ME version, & i was upgrading it to XP. now, i was hearing the normal spinning of the disc as it was copying files, then all of the sudden there was this LOUD POP...i'm thinking someone hit my window w/ a rock. looked @ the window...nothing. the i noticed the disc wasn't spinning anymore ...hmm, odd...NOTHING on the screen was responding.

I then backed out of the dl'd, went to open the disc drive, and...WTF??? the Win XP disc SHATTERED...freakin' shattered fellaz. i seriously don't know what to think. have you HEARD of this? what now???

Windows ME realized that no one likes him and took his rage out on the cool kid (XP).

I've had this happen before a long while back. This happens when you have a drive of 48x speed or faster and your CD simply can't handle the force of that speed. In time the outer part will just wear out from the high speeds. This normally doesn't happen unless your disc was already partially damaged to begin with (something you may not have seen on the disc).

Sorry to hear that. I hope your drive isn't messed up, because mine got messed up when this happened.

Happened to me a long time ago. Took out the drive and shook out all the broken pieces and it was good to go.

I remember hearing a lot about this back when XP first came out, funny to hear about it again.

Never heard of anything like that happening before. Hopefully your drive is okay.
