If you want to get corrective surgery get your self on the waiting list now. My only regret while I was in, was not getting laser correction while I was in, but I was not going to extend my time in the service another 10 years just for it.

You can get low amounts of astigmatism occasionally from overwearing contact lenses or sleeping in them. Low amounts of astigmtism can fluctuate. You can also develop some corneal dystrophies or degenerations that induce astigmatism.

I was in for 10 years, so if I did another contract I would've been silly to not do the full 10 and get the pension and all that comes with serving 20 years.Moderator

That pension isn't a lot. And depending on where you live it wouldn't get you far, especially if you have kids. Sad really, military pension should be a hell of a lot higher then what it is.Comment

Re: Operation Sports Most Wanted Picture List/Discussion

With my engagement I want to share the quick story of the ring. Well my fiance has extremely particular taste and I didn't want the pressure of picking out an engagement ring. I also didn't want to go to a jewelry store together and pick out a ring before I asked the big question. I didn't even know her ring size heading into the proposal.

We briefly spoke about engagements and proposals and I told her I didn't want to pick out her ring. I would hate to pick out a ring that she liked but didn't love. I mean she would obviously wear it because I got it for her, but I wanted her to have the ring she truly wanted.

She tells me that she just wants something special from the moment and instantly I think about my grandmother's ring. During the proposal I gave her a bottle of her favorite wine with a custom label I made that said "Say Yes!!" and our favorite picture of us. With that I gave her my grandmother's ring.

I am not the type to know a single thing about rings. The ring looked pretty simple to me and my grandmother sparingly wore it when she was with us. Sadly she no longer is so the ring has been just sitting in the box about 10 years. I'm assuming the ring is 50+ years old based on the timeline of her marriage to my grandfather.

Anyways, the ring was absolutely perfect and my fiance doesn't even want to pick out a ring. She wants to wear my grandmother's ring which holds an infinite amount of sentimental value to me. Not only that she doesn't want to alter the ring at all as she enjoys the vintage look.

This past Friday we went ahead and took the ring to get it cleaned and re-sized. The ring was approximately 1.3 carats with a platinum band and two diamond baguettes on the side. Apparently it's an above average size and all of her friends are raving about it.

Sorry for the long post I am just thrilled with how the ring turned out and wanted to share!Attached FilesSOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Congrats! The ring I got my wife was similar (though we picked it out together, thankfully, because what she thought she wanted wasn't what she really wanted). With my engagement I want to share the quick story of the ring. Ended up with a similar approx 1.3 carat with a white gold band...you spend the same for 1 diamond vs a lot of little ones, but people love the size of these and it'll always get a positive reaction.
