The only time I've ever tanned was 3 weeks before a trip to Florida. I went twice, and both times was really uncomfortable. Just felt too metro-sexual for me. Never again.

Not worth it at all, looking a little "better" in your youth to pay the price tenfold a few years down the line? No thanks.

I disagree. It's a case by case thing because everyone's skin is different. My parents, when they were still using ours at home, got in the tanning bad once a week and kept their tan just fine.

My grandmother just turned 60. She owned a huge commercial tanning bed that she used for years, but she didn't abuse it and she took care of herself. She's perfectly healthy.

In most examples of someone suffering from the side effects of tanning, it was someone who mis used their tanning bed and were not educated properly. If you don't abuse tanning beds.. they really aren't that bad.

Myself, I've got in ours twice and I really just don't have any urge to do it again because it requires too much effort. I spend plenty of time out in the sun, during the summer months...

1. I would say once a week would qualify as religiously. Kinda how some go to church once a week.....

2. Your right. It all comes down to how often you use it. I dont think its an issue to try and get a base tan up so you dont burn for the week at the beach. I do think its an issue to keep you tan up by using a tanning bed often.

Maybe it's just me, but I would NEVER go to a tanning bed. I tan pretty easily anyway and I'm always on the golf course during the summer, so there is really no need. That being said, even if I needed a tan and couldn't go outside, I wouldn't go to a tanning bed. For some reason I have strong feelings on this and if I know a dude goes to the tanning bed, then he automatically has a strike against him in my book. The word douche comes to mind real quick. Obviously I am friends with some guys that do tan, but I make fun of them. It's personal preference, and Sting you seem like a pretty cool dude, so I'll just pretend like I never saw this thread.

Tanning is not for me, but I guess I shouldn't "hate" on guys who tan. But I do to some extent.

I'd be interested in that... just as long as I don't go the Ross route and go for a 2 on the front and a 2 on the back... but end up with a 4 on the front, and a 0 on the back.

IDK, I think spray tans are far more douchey than laying in a tanning bed but that's just my opinion.

I'd rather be my pale self than lookin like a carrot walking around during the middle of winter. Same goes for the ladies - I know the college girls tan like its a religion, but it just looks so unnatural during the fall and winter. I'd rather be with a pale chick then a girl with a fake tan.

IIRC, there was an article I read last year that said tanning puts you at higher risk of skin cancer than tanning outside.
