Very true...........You got kids working just to be working and then you have kids working because either they have kids of their own or they have to help their family out, especially those who grew up with single moms.

Now for those who grew up in major cities, yeah it is easy to say no license until you 25 because major cities have mass public transportation. But for those who live in small cities and towns, there is no public transportation.

And a drivers license and a car is your lifeline. Especially nowadays.......because a good number of companies that is going to be one of the 1st questions they ask you is if you got your own transportation. No own transportation, no job.

I wasn't being serious when I said they should raise the age to 25

While I understand the logic behind it, I feel like some old people are going to get screwed over. Let's say you're 75 years old and you fail the road test (perhaps they are nervous), is the State going to take the liscense right away?

If I was some old guy that had a clean driving record for 55 years, I would be pissed if I lost the right to drive due to failing a road test because I was nervous or the instructor was really strict on deductions. My clean driving history should be enough to demonstrate I'm fine behind the wheel.

In IL, being retested involves the vision test and written test, not the actual road test.

Just because you've had a clean record for 55 years doesn't mean that your reaction time and ability to think quickly will remain at a peak level for the next 55 years.

In Mass. It's now pointless to have a license if your under 18 to begin with because of all the restrictions they have placed on it the past few years. As for the old people, there seems to be a story every other week here where a old person has either hit some kids or driven through a store by mistaking the gas and brake pedal.

Most jobs require you to have a license..

I dont think its an age thing...Some people just CANT drive...80, 25 or 16 it doesnt matter...
